Vegas is very casual and shorts can be worn almost everywhere except the
finest restaurants and the nightclubs.

Yes you can wear shorts and advertise how low class
you are when attending a show.

Otherwise, what's the problem with slacks?

I like to dress up myself, but that wasn't the question.

Cogno

While you don't have to "dress up" for the upscale shows, many people do. Because of this, it's better to wear "business casual" attire than shorts. They'll still let you in if you're dressed in shorts, but you just might not be too comfortable.

Also, I'm not sure when your trip is, but FYI, it does get cold in LV - it was even snowing yesterday. You might want to check the temperature at weather.com before you pack to make sure you have weather-appropriate clothes with you.

It is true that you can wear whatever you want, but your level of
comfort will vary from show to show. Depending on the time of year,
you will see some people in shorts at The Scintas but you would be
unlikely to see anyone in shorts at Danny Gans, Celine or "O".

Touche. Usually one goes with the other.

Dress up to go to a show! You will feel better about yourself, I hope. If you are walking the strip and happen upon some lounge show then nobody cares what you're wearing but if you paid $ , sometimes big $, wouldn't it be fun to make an event out of it? It always makes it more fun for me. It never hurts to dress appropriately, & nicely if you can , you never know when you might be stripping down to your undies to go swimming or something like that, (like I did at the Wynn hotel in December but I allready mentioned that before, my undies were so nice that Security never bothered me, they thought it was a bikini). My mom has this photo of her and my godmother in front of the Sands in the early 60's they were so beautiful decked out in their elaborate cocktail dresses, high heels and mink stoles et al, too bad barely anybody gets dressed up anymore. Oh by the way now that I remember, about 10 years ago we took our daughter to see Ziegfried and Roy and of course we all were dressed up
and we sat with these very nice tourists from Canada who were wearing shorts, they felt out of place and apologized for their appearance, I replied "oh it's ok Vegas is casual but we like to dress up" they still felt like slobs, I secretly concured but they were very nice slobs.

I'm thinking here and that can be dangerous

I recall at least one tv show and maybe more. They put a reporter on
the street dressed like a bum and asked for parking meter money. Then
the same person dressed up and asked. Guess who got the meter money.
Another one I remember had to do with asking directions. The bum got
a feeble answer and a brush off. The dressed up got the best
directions folks could offer. People were willing to repeat
directions to dress up and make sure dressed up got it right.

If your going to Caesars with a briefcase full of dough to play bj,
you can dress any way you want. However you feel best is the way to
go. A bum giving a $100 tip will be treated like a king. Some taking
a couple hundred Gs to play bj would wear a jacket others wouldn't.
No big deal. If playing vp, dress has no infulence on machine. Resort
dress is good. I'm sure there are folks here who might say they will
wear wrinkled old cruddy 7 day old pants that stand up in the corner
when they take them off. And....they don't care what other people
think. Hey, I don't care what they wear either. I'll just sit 3
stools down from them. Some folks take pride in how they look and
others take pride in making a statement on how they don't care or
claim no statement made at all, they just don't care. Anyway folks
want to do it is ok. I think the point here is clean, neat and proper
sometime can open an extra little door.

By the way, I think Caesars is still the Vegas casino with the most
class; in a quaint way.

Cheers...Jeep
