I stated my reason for wanting to make Rob Singer (RS) a moderated member
(my post is appended below), and hadn't planned on making any additional
comments. But, since I get the feeling that many haven't read or don't
understand my position, I'm going to regurgitate one more time, and then
I'll try and stay on the sidelines and be guided by the Poll results.
RS's conduct on vp_heaven (an unmoderated forum), and his private Emails
have little bearing in my mind on whether or not he should be allowed to
do moderated posting on vpFREE.
Whether you like or dislike RS, agree or disagree with his system and
agenda, have had bad experiences on past forums or with private Emails,
I believe the only important issue is "will his moderated participation
on vpFREE be disruptive".
vpFREE is very different from vp_heaven (and I am/was a great fan of
vp_heaven). vp_heaven allowed unmoderated free speech while vpFREE
insists on civility and will not tolerate disruptive behavior.
The special RS restrictions (which are appended to this message) should
be read carefully by everyone, and everyone should understand that I will
do whatever is necessary (reject 100% of the RS posts if necessary, etc.)
to keep RS's participation in the proper perspective and keep it
non-disruptive.
And, RS might not feel the need to send as many private Emails, if he were
allowed moderated posting status.
In retrospect, I wish that I had given RS moderated posting status on
vpFREE from the gitgo. If I had, and if his vpFREE submissions had mirrored
his vp_heaven performance, approximately 99.9992% of his messages would
have been rejected. However, I didn't and now I'm trying to rectify the
situation, subject to a majority of the voting members not being opposed to
the rectification.
For everyone's information, the RS Poll is open now and will be ongoing,
but the votes will be tabulated after one week (on Thursday 6 March) to
determine if RS will be given moderated posting status now. You can vote,

Votes that are cast for "Doesn't matter to me one way or the other"
are essentially a vote in favor of allowing RS to post in a moderated
status.

I invited Rob Singer to become a "moderated member" of vpFREE,
subject to some special restrictions, and he accepted my
invitation, to take effect when I thought the time was right.
When I extended the invitation, I was laboring under the delusion that
vpFREE would be converting to full-moderation, which would afford
greater control over disruptive situations. Now that we're sticking
with semi-moderation, I would still like to honor the invitation,
because I don't like having anyone banned, and I'm confident that the
agreed on restrictions will allow his participation to be handled in a
non-disruptive manner. However, learning from the moderation vote, I'm
going to run RS's participation up the flagpole and see who salutes,
via a new Poll I'm setting up. Then, If a majority of the voters are
against his being a "moderated member", I'll withdraw the invitation.
If less than half are opposed, he will become a "moderated member".

RESTRICTIONS
He will be allowed to post a monthly trip report (with the standard
vpFREE Rob Singer disclaimer appended) in which he is free to talk
about his system and anything else that is VP related, as long as he
conforms to vpFREE Rules and Policies, and Posting Guidelines.
In his other vpFREE posts, he won't be allowed to push his agenda
(promoting discipline and short term luck as the only way to VP
profits) or to initiate any discussions of his system.
vpFREE will continue to carry his weekly GAMING TODAY column.
I would prefer that his participation doesn't result in discussions of
the Rob Singer agenda or system. Both have been covered extensively on
the vp_heaven Yahoo Group, and further discussion IMO is counter-
productive. If any such discussion develops, it must be long on facts
and short on anecdotal evidence and rhetoric. Prolonged, disruptive
threads won't be allowed.
