From Harry:
.......These strategies can also be deemed "long term" strategies, in the
manner that any "max EV" strategy can be called a long term strategy.
Harry, I appreciate your answer, but I can't help but view those kinds
Multistrike strategies as the ultimate examples of (so-called) short term
strategies.
Suppose you go to a Video Poker
tournament, and they have normal DB machines in it. Assume these
rules: each gambler can play for an hour, just an hour, and at the
end the person with the highest score wins. What is the proper
strategy here.......?
I've got to say that imho, and in light of Tom's post below, I believe that
the kind of question posed above promotes discussion that is extremely
informative, interesting and productive to all but those who just aren't
interested. Of the 2000 or so members of this board, how many cannot
benefit in some way, or increase their understanding of the game, by
reading these kinds of posts? Perhaps the most active posters find them
frivolous, but many more do not, I would guess.
From Tom:
Harry's post motivates me to take some actions that I've been thinking
about for some time, but haven't gotten around to. I'm going to put some
boiler plate info in the FAQ about short term strategy, machine
changing, hot machines, quitting when ahead etc., and move all such
threads to FREEvpFREE as soon as they show signs of becoming counter-
productive.vpFREE Administrator
I'd be very sorry to see this action occur. I understand your desire to
help build freevpfree into a viable board and it seems to be happening,
slowly but surely. But the kinds of topics you mention above are neither
counter-productive nor disruptive on this board. Anyone who posts an
overly naive assertion should be happy to do it here, where there are many
knowledgeable people who are always happy to offer a courteous correction.
I've got a huge amount of respect for Harry, but this is not
harryporter.com any more than it is skiphughes.com or even robsinger.com.
Certainly, Tom, you are free do as you think is best for vpfree, but I hope
that serious topics won't be stifled merely because they sometimes seem to
fly in the face of conventional vp wisdom.
