Short, sweet TR

Went to Atlantic City Friday overnight with the Rocket. Took the bus at the
Port Authority ($31 with a $20 cash return at Caesar's) and then by shank's
mare and shuttle made our way to the Showboat where we stayed in an
acceptable but undistinguished room.

Had a late supper courtesy of the Diamond Lounge (lovely tilapia in a
pleasant light sauce.. not overcooked at all despite sitting on a steam table,
steamed veggies loaded with garlic and fresh cut-up fruit). Then a little
gambling at Double Aces and Faces, one of the possibly playable games there. To
bed a loser of about $120).

In the morning, a truly excellent omelette (feta cheese, tomatoes and fresh
baby spinach, substituting a generous portion of fruit for the potatoes) at
the coffee shop. Then I went back to the machine I'd started on, which was of
a mood to give me lots of quads, including Aces and Faces as well.

Later we used his gift certificate to the new mall at Caesar's for a
wonderful lupper (lunch/supper - my own word) at the marvelous The Trinity Irish Pub
and Carvery. We had the special sandwich of the day ($12, a bargain)
consisting of a big sandwich of lamb and pork with choice of cheese melted on it -
I picked an old cheddar, marvelous fresh green beans and potatoes mashed with
some herbs in them. Altogether, with a fabulous cup (huge) of wild mushroom
and barley soup, quite enough of a meal to carry for the rest of the day.

It was a very pleasant way to spend a day (especially when the VP gods are
kind) and the only thing that marred it was when the Academy bus back to NY
was forty minutes late (next time we'll take Grayhound), causing my poor feet
to ache for hours.
