Shootings/robbery

IMO, very definitely a proper topic for discussion on VPFREE. With
view toward avoidance of future problems. Should it develop that
casinos are NOT responsible for maintaining security within their
parking facilities, patrons might want to re-consider whether, and
under what circumstances, they are willing to use such facilitie

I agree

If you don't get the answer from an Nevada attorney what good is a
discussion on this board without having the legal answers. Without
a qualified legal opinion the discussion is mere speculation.

<G> Mere speculation is often the main supporting evidence
for many threads on vpFREE. It's always nice to get authoritative
input, but side benefits can come from speculative discussions.

PS I didn't see who posted the "its not a proper topic" post
but I would assume the administator did.

Not guilty. I posted the original link to the story and a follow-up
link.

I am seriously considering sending a "survey", to local casino
managements, with questions similar to the following. With intent to
post responses, and/or identity of non-responders, upon VPFREE.
Prior to actually sending same, I would appreciate comments.

Re: Your Policies Concerning Patron Safety Against Robbery/Murder

In view of fairly-recent murders, in the Suncoast and Boulder Station
parking lots, a few questions concering the measures which YOUR
management has taken, to forestall, and/or deal with, recurrences of
same. For purposes of discussion, it is assumed that your security,
within the areas within which gambling is actually conducted, is
adequate.

Three relevant types of area:
A. Restrooms.
B. Parking lots.
C. Parking garages.

RESTROOMS. More likely the venue of non-violent theft--"snatching"
of purses and/or wallets--than of actual robbery. Even so, patrons
are entitled to protection against loss of money--let alone having to
deal with the consequences of "identity theft".

PARKING LOTS. Presumably, you maintain 24-hour videotape coverage of
all such areas. Perhaps more relevant:
A. Are any security personnel specifically charged with the duty of
observing relevant monitors?
B. Do your security procedures include any provision for immediate
detection of, and/or response to, cellphone calls to 911? (solely by
reception; NOT dependent upon Metro Police "relay").

PARKING GARAGES. In view of physical limitations, videotape coverage
of "all areas", especially including elevators and stairwells, may
not be feasible. Even so:
A. Do you maintain videotape coverage of any area/s within same?
B. Have any measures, to verify/ensure cellphone coverage within
same, been taken?
