Sequential Royal Wedding Gift

This just goes to show you can NEVER really assume anything
must "hit" in a specified time in VP.

I was getting ready to leave Reno for good on June 10, as I am
getting married in Omaha, NE on June 22. I had stayed at the
Atlantis in Reno for two nights in a great comped room (best in Reno,
in my opinion) and decided that since this would be the last time I
ever had a chance to play for a long time, I would make one more shot
before leaving for good to pack, pick up the rental truck, and so
forth.

I chose the full pay deuces, and at Atlantis, you must bet either 10
nickels or 10 quarter to get the 100% payback on royals. After about
an hour, I had lost about $150 of the $500 I had won over the last
few days playing .50 per hand in nickels. As some of us tend to do,
I started getting the attitude "here we go again!"

It was at this point, I decided I would be comfortable losing the
whole $200 or getting a good deal of it back and leaving, just as
long as it didn't take too long. I needed to get the moving truck
and pack, and what the heck, the most beautiful woman in the world
was waiting--who cares if I lost the whole $200. I switched to
quarters, but since they didn't offer full pay deuces at this
denomination, I chose Jacks or Better with the Sequential Royal that
offered 100,000 for a Sequential Royal either way.

I started actually hitting some full houses, flushes and straights,
and got back over half of what I'd lost to this point. I decided
that if I got up to being down only around $50 down, I'd just leave
as time was getting short. In fact, I almost left a few times.

After only about 50 or 60 hands, I was dealt a 3 card royal. As it
was the only realistic play on that hand, I didn't even notice it was
in sequence, but in hindsight, it was T J _ _ A of hearts.

When I hit the return, as you already know, the music started, and I
was thinking GREAT! Finish my playing days for a long time to come
with a Royal! Until I looked at the top line and noticed it said
something different than it ever had before--Sequential Royal Flush.

For the first time in years, I truly got emotional. Normally, I just
sit back, feeling a little cocky. I've had hundreds of royals in my
life, but as a point of interest, not one of them was sequential in
either direction, because I always look them over. The first words
out of my mouth were holy F _ _ _! I don't believe this."

I still didn't really believe it, and expected to wake up at any
moment. In fact, I pinched myself! I've never done this before, and
as I did so, the gentleman next to me asked "you hit a good one?" I
told him "you've got to see this, I just don't believe it."

The last two cards were what really made me think. I'm getting
married in two weeks, and they were the Queen and King of Hearts!

I did take several pictures with my cell phone, but I've not been
able to figure out how to get the picture from my ISP site to this
page. In fact, the first time I tried to write this, I had it all
written, then clicked on "photos" on this site and lost the whole
article. If anybody can tell me how to do it, I'd be glad to add it
to the site.

Best wishes and good luck to all.

Tom

congrats on both your winnings and marriage!

Great story. Congrats of course.

I haven't had hands that huge yet, but I have been flabbergasted by a
few 'lesser' Royals, so I'm sure I'd be overwhelmed at a
"life-changing" big jackpot.

To share the photo, save a .jpeg to your hard drive, then attach it to
an e-mail to vpFae (his e-mail address is on any of his posts, or
elsewhere many places on the site...)

I'll wager the wife lets you return soon enough.

I think Thomas was playing quarters, so it's "only" $25000.
