Seminole Hard Rock Casino - my review

I've been twice, both times while on a business trip and I will not go there
for serious VP. The place is a gold mind for the owners. Hundreds of
machines and very few paying out. Basically, since it's an Indian reservation,
they are authorized to play bingo, so all the machines, even the video poker,
are basically playing Bingo, they just make it look like slots, video poker,
etc. It's all video display, and on each screen there is a little bingo card
and that's what you are playing.

The place is filled with people playing and losing. One bank (maybe 10)
of 25 cent poker and another bank and a half (maybe 15 machines) of .50-$1.00
poker ....and very hard to even get a seat. Amazing. No full pay at all.
On some of the machines, you can bet up to 30 credits and lose even faster!

During the week, it was fairly busy, but I went on a Sunday and it was
PACKED...wheel chairs and oxygen tanks abound. One of the other draws of the
Seminole reservation is cheap tobacco, so expect lots of smoke as well.
Basically, they have a captive market in Florida for those that don't/can't travel,
and they are sure taking advantage.

Beautiful hotel, just not the place for any serious video poker player,
IMHO.

One thing to note – the legislature passed a law permitting
(requiring?) Jeb Bush to negotiate compacts with the tribes. As an
opponent of gambling who knows if he will negotiate in good faith but
Class III gaming is certain somewhere in the state in the near
future. Racetracks in Broward County will get slots soon, possibly
including VP, maybe even including good VP???

The main thing is that the past is not the future, we should know a
lot in the next few months.

Interesting thought! Before the HardRock, there was some gambling on the reservation, but we only went once. IT was reversed, they had a small are that was for Non-smoking...it was a glassed in room with only a few machines and you had to wade though the layers of smoke to get there.

Never thought about the O2 and smoking! <G>
