I have about $200 worth of Swedish Kroner (SEK). Does anyone know if I
am able to convert this currency at a major casino? Many years ago, I
was able to do so in Reno with full exchange rates.

My bank wants a $45 fee to convert it over, and this just seems
excessive considering the amount I have.

I have heard of Canadians exchanging dollars, but what about a more
unusual currency?

When I drive into Laughlin the north facing markee on Don Laughlin's
Riverside Casino always tells me the current exchange rates for Canadians and
Europeans. I have seen signs in Laughlin main cages for exchange rates, maybe not for
Kroners though. So what is a fair exchange rate today?

Your American pennies and dimes are still welcome in Laughlin too, unlike
most Vegas casinos. Does any Vegas casino take them? Even Harrahs-L, which is
99.9% TITO, welcomed my pre-sorted change in a peanut butter jar in the past
year.

I bet a casino could be better than a banking institution for such a
transaction.

Now that you mention it, I remember seeing the sign at the Riverside
touting a good exchange rate for the Canadians. Would they be so kind
for a Swede?

The last time I tried this was at Circus Circus in Reno. They also
had an exchange rate board, and were paying the full exchange rate. I
had about $60 in SEK, and gave them to the cashier. He and 3 others
got out some big books with pictures of foreign currency. After about
20 minutes he said the head cashier approved my exchange, and as he
was talking, I noticed he had $100 bills in his hand. He started to
count them out, and..... (my mother would be proud of me at this
moment), I stopped him and told him he was giving me way too much. It
turns out after all the picture books he thought I had given him
Swiss money. Geez. I finally got my correct US$.

By the way: Does anyone know if they serve Lutfisk anywhere in town?
Maybe they will take my Kroner.
