It seems reading the card with a high intensity LED lite seems to work best
in a slightly darkened room. It also worked with one I had from Sharper
Image (as well as with the free flashlight that the Palms gave away as a mystery
gift).

Once you see the contents of the scratch cards, then.....
Can you go back to Palms and exchange them with newer cards?

You must have missed the original discussion about the Palms scratch
cards. Locals got a calender this month with five scratch days per
week. They must be scratched in front of a Palms employee to be
valid. Some days you get as little as 1000 points (value about $4)
and some days you could get unlimited 5X points (potentially worth
hundreds to a high limit player). If you know in advance what the
prize is that day, you know whether the trip to Palms is worth your
time.
