First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
I plan on an end of the year Las Vegas around December 10th. If any of you have ACG or LVA coupons you aren't going to use, let me know. I can always use extras. I'd be happy to pay postage.

Just got back from Vegas. Took two ACG and one LVA books. Played almost all of the coupons. Ended up almost $400. This includes some sign up freeplay. Now have about 25 players cards. I was surprised at how much time it took to go to all of the casinos with match play coupons.
Loved Human Nature (second time I have seen the show) and hated Ka. Even though I got $70 discount tickets for Ka, it was still not worth it. Many of the shows are now being discounted.

As for coupon runs, yes they do take some time to do but they are far and away the most profitable thing you can do in Las Vegas.
If someone installed quarter full pay deuces wild in Detroit, it would be a huge story. But deuces is .76% positive so it's a $7/hr play. Two $10 Matchplays are worth more than that.
We worry about .1% advantages but matchplays are almost a 50% advantage.
I have subsidized many a bad video poker session with matchplay profits.

Sorry, nothing good left in the books after I got done with them. It is even better when you can buy the ACG books at a discount price near the end of the year.
I'm not sure I would go back to North Las Vegas to use those coupons. Those are some pretty rough looking places.

Thanks. North Las Vegas is definitely 'interesting'. It makes the Western seem rather nice. But if Silver Nugget runs a 3x blackjack promo again, I'll be there.

Coupon running always creates great stories for afterwards. North Las Vegas is one of those. However, the BigHorn (LongHorn?) on Boulder Highway across from Eastside Cannery gets my vote for the most "atmospheric" casino. You cannot help going there because their coupons are too good, though. I'll be on the lookout for more "characteristic" places when I am in LV later this month.
Also, GLJ, you'd better believe that Silver Nugget squelched that promo pretty early on when they realized they were giving away $35-40 hour to even the most basic knowledgeable players...oh to have gotten in on the ground floor...

But they give you a cookie when you sign up for a players card.

I have some coupons from the 'casinos with atmosphere'. Let me know what you are looking for and I'm sure we can work something out. You can email me privately at greeklandjohnny at aol dot com.
The Silver Nugget actually ran that promo for a couple weeks, much longer than I thought they would.

Hi Folks~~
I'm back from my Las Vegas coupon run and a few days in South Florida (hence the delay).
Bottom line: My coupon running netted me about $700 profit. I used all of johnny's coupons and all of the coupons from the ACG and the 2009 LVA as well.
The bad news: I gave it all back plus more on high-stakes, plus E.V. Video Poker at Palms, Rampart, Ellis Island and other places.
Still had a good time, though. Friend was supposed to come along but it ended up being a solo trip. I got a little degenerate and lost some of my decision-making skills
Anyway, if anyone has some questions about coupons or VP plays, I'd be happy to answer them, and I will be posting a full report in the LVA forums.
I did discover a new casino that is even better than the Longhorn! The Klondike on Sunset near the Boulder Strip has $.10 roulette (minimum $1.00 inside/outside action per spin) and $2 blackjack with great drink service! This is my new favorite place to play table games.

Hello,
I am going to Vegas for a month starting Jan 24th. I am a VP player and my
husband mostly table games. What can you tell me about coupons etc. that
would help my trip and extending my bankroll?
Thanks in advance,
mj

One thing I would add is that it is sometimes nice for both spouses to have an LVA membership or their own copy of the ACG. That way, you can both take advantage of the best offers.
Also, Terrible's used to sell the ACG in their gift shop; and the Las Vegas Advisor (I believe) used to allow people to subscribe, and pick up their coupon book in person at their office on Procyon. I would double-check with them first, but a pick-up might help if you are worried that your coupon book might arrive via the mail at a bad time vis a vis your departure date.
Before spending $100 (or $74) on a pair of LVA memberships, you should know that their 2010 coupon book has been neutered. There is not a single table games matchplay.
There are some blackjack bonus coupons but their variance is significantly higher than a normal matchplay. I haven't done the math but my guess is the real world value of the 2010 book is about 75% lower than the 09 version. Toss in the added variance and it's quite possible you could end the year a loser playing the 2010 coupons. In past years this was a near impossibility.
For the traditional coupon run the 2010 ACG is definitely the way to go.

I understand that the LVA book MRB ( member rewards book) has been delayed until 1/15/10. You should be able to pick it up at the office on Procyon. You can have 2 subs per address as long as they are separate names. I'd suggest one paper sub for $50 and one internet sub for $37. Also, no matchplays in the MRB for the first time since I've been a subscriber ( 21 years). I don't know if I will get my sub back in coupons this year or not ( several freeplay offers).
ACG is pretty good this year. Sahara and Westin both have $25 MPs, one per month redemption.

All the matchplays are gone. There are still several freeplay offers. I'll keep track this year but it will be a struggle to get $50 in value out of the book this year. This could be the first time in 21 years I don't recoup the cost of the sub in coupons.
