5-card was in town last week and mentioned that
he had installed a Google search engine for his
web site. This sounded like a good idea for vpFREE
so I set one up (did a microsoft one also, but
it's not as comprehensive as Google's). Here's a

A major problem with the Google and Microsoft
search engines is that they only search links
that are indexed on the web, and a lot of vpFREE's
pages haven't made it to the public domain yet.
Fortunately there are a lot of other FREE search
engines that can do direct and comprehensive searches
of individual web sites. Unfortunately, although I've
spent an awful lot of time trying, I can't get any
of these search engines to work on vpFREE. It may be
because my setup isn't compatible with the programs
I've tried, but I suspect it's because I don't know
much about what I'm doing and I'm probably not talking
to the software as nice as it would like.
If any vpFREE member(s) have any expertise in this
area, I would really appreciate some assistance. If
someone could get one of these programs working on
their site, maybe we could duplicate it on mine ...
or I can give ftp access to vpFREE's server if that's
a better way to go. FWIW, I have a Windows XP Pro
system and my web server uses Apache/1.3.26.
