Scoring Four Deuces vs. Scoring 5OAK

A good friend, who is a fairly recent convert to FPKBJW, wrote me that she had finally
popped 5OAK, after being dealt a quad and drawing the joker.

She is aware that this exciting game is my fave of all favorite VP games. I have been
playing FPJW a great deal of the time, during NV visits, since it first became available.
In current times, I play it wherever I can still find it in a casino. I have also played hundreds of thousands of hands of FPKBJW on Win Poker 6. So, I have a great deal of experience with this game.

In a casino setting, I have scored 5OAK dozens of times, with proportionate results on
on my laptop.

I have also played a great deal of FPDW, and, of late, NSUD, both in NV and on my
computer, and have been very fortunate to receive 4 deuces on many of those occasions.

Though I know that this is only an anecdotal observation, it has become obvious to me
that I must play many more hands of JW, than DW, in order to receive the secondary
jackpot. Since they both have the same payoff of 1000 coins, with 5 coins bet, this
seems a bit odd to me.

Has anyone else on the board played both games extensively, and noted similar
results? Or perhaps, had a completely different experience? I would be interested to
hear your opinions.

Basically, I'm wondering if 5OAK is possibly an undervalued jackpot.

A quick check on winpoker shows that deuces occur about twice as often as 5 of a kind. Both pay the same. In deuces, quad 2s are about 4% of your return and in FPJWKB, quints are about 1.9% of your return.

I also prefer wild card games and have been playing for many years. If you look at the game analysis on Winpoker you will see that the deuces occur more than twice as often on DW than a 5OAK on FPJW. You also have other good paying hands on JW like the straight flush which pays twice what a wild royal pays on deuces, and a wild royal on JW pays 500. Because there are more high paying hands on JW it is much easier to have a winning session without a 5OAK, so it really isn't that odd to have games with a similar payback that have hands of the same value that don't occur with the same frequency. I hope that answers your question, Pat

Thanks Pat (And Johnnie Z)!

I don't know why I didn't check this out myself as I have, and frequently use, both
WP & VPW software.

Anyway, I appreciate both of you being kind enough to check this out for me.

The math certainly bears out my "feeling" that I was popping four deuces twice as
often as 5OAK.

I hope that you see many of those lovely secondary jackpots!

Regards,

~Babe~
