saw everything in Vegas till 2007- what should i see now?

Used to do Vegas every month or two. Watched Mirage & Treasure Island being built. Caesars transform to Form shops. visited lots: dam, Laughlin, Mesquite, Mt Charleston, State Line Whiskey Pete's on way to high desert in Ca. Used Vegas as home base to travel west. Drove and flew to phoenix, Las
Angeles and other places. Stayed In Frontier, Holiday Inn, Orleans, LVH, Rio, Gold Coast, Palace Station, Sam's, Laughlin Harrahs etc. Too many to keep listing.

!n 2007 my wife hospitalized in Vegas with Sepsis. On ventilator for 7 days. Hospital longer. Stayed in Vegas for about month till she could travel back home. Now she finally is ready to fly and travel. By the way she's
healthy and well.

What do we want to try to visit or put on list? Will probably schedule stay 10 days including 2 weekends. Will rent car. I have heard things have changed in 8 years. I don't know which casino would make a good home base. If wife and i enjoy Vegas as much as we used to, we will have to develop a home casino. I have heard
Downtown and off strip are best for comps, CB, games etc.. Have also heard some casino don't even
give popcorn. A member from a group of 16 folks from a sportsman club stayed at Bally's . One guy
said he was at Bar Bally's and ordered drink. Supposedly the bartender charged for drink because guy
wasn't playing max coins. I was even thinking of going into Laughlin instead of Vegas..

Asking for ideas. What would some of you folks suggest.

Cheers......JEEP

A really nice casino that my husband and I enjoy is Sun Coast. It is pretty far from the strip but it has a good atmosphere, free rooms and food are easy to get, some good pays if you play video poker. I also think Red Rock and Green Valley have some good plays and we get room offers with not a lot of coin in. Sun Coast has a movie theatre. Last trip I got my ticket, popcorn and a drink for free. Their buffet is not bad but not the best except they have a good bread pudding. We always get a large room with a view of the golf course. They have a nice, not very big but heated swimming pool.

If you like Laughlin try the Aquarius. If you liked the Orleans before, you should still like it. For downtown you might like one of the Boyd properties or the 4 Queens is pretty good. It all comes down to what your priorities are, rooms , comps, games, etc..

To A P Always liked downtown. We would go special to Golden Nugget for buffet. That was
back when Wynn ran it. Don't know about now.

Orleans _- one trip we ended our stay there. Right when
DDB vp was new. I didn't like it much but lots of action (volatile) . But I played a lot, shoulda stayed on
9/6 JOB. My bankroll was in tank. About 5 hrs before time to go airport, I had had a couple 100 left.
Why not blow it fast, and played DDB. Quite underfunded for dollar play. I had start of good session. Couple
lows with kicker Aces etc. I don't remember all details except , Hitting As & Kick. Now I,m up real good on bankroll. Still got play time left. Moved up to $2. kept hitting lots of 4ks . ready to quit when my first dealt royal showed up. Came back from ashes and took home nice cash. The royal was in hearts..

Also interested in new tourist kind of things. Thanks for tip.

Pat been to all those . Can't remember much. Does one have a skating rink? I also went to a wedding
at a casino that had a golf course, I believe out there. But not sure. Certainly some ideas to kick around.

Do you anything about Cannery. I believe I can get rooms there from my local casino in Pennsylvania.
I've been there about a 100 yrs ago. Is it any good?

Hi all
follow up on post last month or so. We are going to travel in Sept. Have settled on Gold Coast & Orleans. 97% sure. Decided, We might visit dam ( see low water) and will travel into high desert calif. and to LA visiting family. Usually try for one show, don't know what? Of course, one day downtown. Caesars Form Shops is always worth walk thru. Probably stay 10 days. I will be a real tourist. If trip goes well I think Reno next on list. Long..... time since there.

Recommendations on car rentals?? How about any other ideas of things to see. Seems like mostly same
old place. Except folks tell us it has changed so much.

Cheers Jeeps

For car rentals, the past year I have started using Autoslash.com for Las Vegas (they don't have agreements in all cities that we go to). It will search for the lowest price and give it to you. Then they keep checking and evey few days I'll get offered a lower price right up to the rental date. In LV they are usually offering Sixt (which is right across the street from the Airport car rental complex & they have free van shuttle from it) and E-Z rent a car. In most cases I've gotten a great deal, however once in a while the rate is not much less than National, so I go with them. You do not pay a penny up front and can cancel right up to the rental day so there is nothing to loose by reserving with them and seeing how low they go by the time you are leaving.

Make sure you have your B Connected card when you go to Gold Coast and Orleans, and remember to swipe it EVERY DAY you play at either property (or any other Boyd casino). Last time I was there, I won two drawings because of swiping (and playing, of course). Right now, there are senior multipliers (and other benefits) every Sunday and Wednesday.

Have fun!

Hi there thanks for info. In 1st post, I mentioned years since I've been Vegas. i will try EZ rent & autoslash. Used to be better pricing for rental at airport than hotel, I believe. Back then used to rent across from Stardust, a place called Brooks rental, exception to cheaper car at airport. Friend rented at Dollar and got bad price. Turned out he needed a club card of some kind. He had to join before renting and get card in mail.

cheapchuck24 also mentioned hotwire

Thx for info guys......Jeep

Thanks for all ideas posted to my post. All very helpful. My goal was to stay in comped rooms even though I haven't been there in so long. Only the Palms still had me in their data base.
I never even thought of them to try and get a comp based on past play. I visited Palms and when
I wanted to get a card, girl said I am in system.

I was able to get Gold Coast to give me two notes @ $35 and two week end for $135. nite. They promised
consideration based on play. I have a friend that would get me 3 nites at Fiesta on his card checking in for
me as he was staying that week at another place. After mulling over problem e was able to also get comp room at Cannery because I play at Meadows in Pennsylvania. Never at Eastside Cannery. I divided up my stay: 2 nites Coast, 3 notes Cannery, 3 more nites G Coast; all comped. I was HAPPY with that.

Gold Coast I liked a lot. Reminded me of the Frontier & Stardust. Not too big, friendly employees and kinda
laid back and relaxed. My wife hit two .50cent Royals almost back to back. She got a $100 royal bonus for
each Royal in addition to jackpot. The icing on the cake; the shift manager gave her a $150 comp ticket for
Cortez Room. That was the first 2 days. Last 3 days wife got another 50 cent Royal and I hit a $1 Royal.
Eazy to understand why I liked Coast. 4 Royals for 2 players gets my attention.

Cannery I liked too. The rooms were spotless. A real local atmosphere. Decent singing group at bar. Machines were ok and great place for me as my nephew lives 5 minutes away. Also we went to dam.
I was shocked to see Lake Mead 135 feet short on water. It's spooky. All in all I liked Eastside Cannery
except not a big selection of machines.

I played in 12 casinos in 8 days. Later i'll post the 12 and let you guys know what I think of properties
now compared to years ago. Lot of changes, as we all know.

You all have a good afternoon.....Jeep
