Saturday at Mohegan

As a high roller (not), got my two little incentives to make the
increasingly expensive trek to MS: $25 in Free Merchandise at any
store (no restaurants) and a birthday gift at Essentials.

The birthday gift was a thermos with two extra cups in a nylon carry
bag.

Not much avaible for the $25 in free merchandise.

For a laugh, I asked the guy at Tiffany's what I could get for around
25.

Would that be $2,500 or $25,000, sir?

Never mind ;).

Anyway, dropped a couple of hundred on $1 Pick'em in the earth casino.

Later tried the $1.00 pick'em in the sky casino and hit 4 deuces on
about the 20th hand (been awhile - felt good).

Still, the new comp rate is very disappointing especially when one
cosnsiders the skyrocketing cost of gasoline ($3.50 in MA and $3.79
in CT.

It cost me $40+ in gas to get there (used to be about $25). So
gasoline is up by 50% to 60%, while the comp advantage in cut in half.

Used to go as much as twice a month, 20 times a year. Doubt that I'll
go much more than 12 times this year. Gas too high -- comps too low.

For the first time ever I actually saw someone get a Royal on a $1.00
pick'em machine. It was in the old poker room. He was on the last
machine on the left surrounded by family members and they were all
going nuts.

I looked over to see that it was a royal - and it was on pick'em --
BUT then noticed he was playing single coin.

I just groaned. The guy to my right asked what happened, I said the
guy hit the royal but that the putz was playing one coin.

Seems like a good deal for MS. Royals are going to come genrally
based on normal frequency. But better for them if when they hit, it's
less than 5 coin, Better still if it's only 1 coin.

Anyway, the guy was paid based on $5,000 schedule instead of the full
pay $6,000, so he got paid a grand instead of $1,200. He would have
been paid a better payback percentage if he were playing just 25
cents more a hand at quarters at 5 coin. So that made the play even
more stupid -- from that perspective.

I guess the good news is that this way he does not get a W2G. So
maybe he's the smart one

He and his family was extremely happy, so I guess that's the
important thing.

Over and out,
