I posted this on vpFree-Detroit. Some Canada casino news in it.
Terry
I put some miles on my little Red Yaris yesterday, but it's okay since
I get around 40 MPH.
I decided to check out the two Canadian casinos in Sarnia (Point
Edward and Hiawatha) to see if any changes have been made since I'd
been there last-about two years ago. I'm about 45 minutes away from
Port Huron from the Dryden/Almont area.
The answer to my question was no! Except for Hiawatha changing the
dollar Pick'Em to the Rip-Off 96% Pick'Em. The best I found was at
Point Edwards where they had a quarter 9/6/5 DDB at 98.?%. I played
loser games for about an hour in each casino, then left about a
hundred down. I don't have to wonder about those two again.
When I crossed the Blue Water bridge to Canada at 9:30am, I
noticed that the cars and trucks were backed up almost to the middle
of the bridge. I put it down to early morning rush-hour traffic.
WRONG!!! On the way back, at noon, the line was even longer. It took
me 45 minutes to get through customs. Never again will I drive to
Canada unless I become a conscientious objector and have to flee the
draft.
I then drove down I-94 (about 60 miles)to Detroit to play at
GreekTown Casino for a while. While there, I noticed that all the
dollar and quarter GameMakers, in one bank, were "Disabled." I hope
this doesn't mean that more of those lousy GameMaker HD's are going
in. Since there were less GameMaker's available, the new ones were
getting some play. I watched, but didn't see or hear of anybody
winning anything on them.
I won, lost, won, lost all day and left, maybe $50 down. I got a $50
food comp and had a great dinner at Sweet Georgia Brown's. The
cornmeal covered sea bass was excellent. I also had a couple glasses
of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine that was very good.
Next I finished the day at the Rochester Elks where I met wife Dolores
and after a couple of cold beers, drove home, showered and hit the
sack at midnight with poker cards imprinted on my retinas.
