Has anyone checked out this new casino that opened last week. Does it
have playable VP?

No, this is another in a long list of CA casinos with pretty much no
playable VP. The best I saw was a $1 progressive that I believe was a
9/6 DDB. There were some nickel and quarter progressives too but with
such bad pay tables I doubt they'd ever have a positive EV.
They do have a slot club: 0.2% cash back for VP, 0.25% for slots if I
did the math right.
The casino itself is pretty small but nice with the best view I've
seen: it's restaurant overlooks Lake Henshaw. This is San Diego's
most remote casino, many miles from any freeway. It's not even right
in the town of Santa Ysabel: you have to go north from there a few
miles on Route 79.
They had a blackjack pit similar in size and games to those at Valley
View. And they have a nice poker room with about 10 tables, a few of
which are "virtual" poker tables: no dealer, just a screen in front
of each player and one in the middle showing the community cards, etc.
The casino has done almost no advertizing that I have seen. They
don't have a website and aren't running any promotions. They'll have
to come up with something good to get me out there again.

Thanks for the updates. I probably wouldn't check it out unless I
happened to be out that way (Way out and up in the Mtns..!)

Here is an inventory of the playable VP at Santa Ysabel:
- 9/6 Jacks or Better at the $1 level.
- Several linked MG/MD machines throughout the casino which contain 9-
5DDB progressives at the 25c level, and 9-7DB progressives at the $1
level.
- All Star Poker machines containing NSU Deuces, 9-6BP Deluxe, 10-6DDB
and 18-7 KOB Jokers with a 4700 Royal, all at various denoms and "N"-
Play. The good paytables can only be found when you select the highest
denom for each N-play (for example, 10c on the 10-play). Best paytable
is the 10-6DDB, but please note that the straight flush only pays 40
instead of the standard 50, which brings it in just a hair under 100%.
Alcohol will arrive in a couple of weeks. Unusual amenities normally
not found on a casino floor include pool tables, darts, a couple video
games and hand shuffleboard.

John
