On the 13th to the 16th of August I'll be in Reno at the sands (staying with group of freinds) and wondering if anyone has been there recently. Is the vp free data base current for the Sands? Normally I stay at the Eldorado or the SL but since I will be staying at the Sands on this trip I would like to play some there.

I too have not been there in quite a while. I think we'd all be interested in the inventory, which use to be fair, so please scout around and let us Reno folks know. You'll also be within a short walk of Gold-Dust west Reno, which use to have full pay pickem.
The bars are a lot of fun at the Sands, and Mels diner is fantastic -you'll have a lot of fun no matter what. Heck if the VP sucks, you can always walk over to the SL which has a fabulous VP inventory.

It has been almost a year since my last visit to the Sands. I could not find any FP vp, but I did not do a complete scout of the place. They used to have FP with progressives at the bars, but they are gone. Mels is gone and is now Copa (?). Sands has good promotions geared to the locals and does a good business- at least when I was there. They have some pool parties and contests if that interest you. As mentioned the Pick'em is gone from GDW, and the walk is questionable due to some flea bag motels in the area.
My reason for a visit was so my daughter could play some old slot games. They have some real old stuff in there. The trip was not a bust, as I hit a royal on a 7/5 BP game while waiting for her.
