This is not completely true. You can combine gift points with
cash to make
purchases in the gift shops. You cannot combine with cash to buy
the gift
point only special items.

Along those lines, you can not use a coupon or player card to
discount a comp in the Gift Shop or La Boutique. And you have to
get a comp slip in advance from a host, who may or may not acquiesce
because this is officially a perk for Platinum or Diamond players
only. And, unlike most casinos, you can not charge a purchase to
your room for later comp. Sheesh!
With all these complicated and ever-changing procedures, it's no
wonder that casino employees in different departments get confused.
So I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone had a different
experience than the one I just described above!
Here's another example. I wanted to buy one of those PM leather
fanny packs in the gift shop and they were out. I asked the manager
when they might have more in stock. She had no idea. The next
morning I stopped by to get a newspaper and there was a fresh pile
of the desired fanny packs. Coincidence? Maybe. But this sort of
chaos seems to go on all the time in other areas as well. Sometimes
the booth will tell you how much is in your comp acct. and sometimes
they will not ... just depends on who you talk to. It's no wonder
players get frustrated.
Another one of my pet peeves here is the secrecy surrounding comp
accounts. These have monetary value to players. Can you imagine a
bank refusing to tell customers how much they had in their accounts
and what the interest rate might be? At the PM, it's very easy to
find yourself with an overdrawn account.
This sort of secrecy makes it only too easy to cheat (mostly through
mistakes) the uninformed players out of earned comps and is the
major reason I quit playing here many years ago. I've since
returned because this is becoming a very attractive place to play
and stay but the slot club continues to absolutely suck! You need a
good host here who can communicate with you and interface with the
system on your behalf.
Sorry to digress ...
