San Diego Trip

Planning a trip in August to San Diego from the east coast; first and probably last trip, so I am not looking for long term benefits, just interested in playing some good games -- will probably stay a few nights at Harrahs Rincon comped and then stay a week in La Jolla. Looking at database, it looks like Valley View and Viejas have best selection of games (prefer multiline $1, $2) -- are there any negatives about either place? How far are they from Harrahs? Any other casino suggestions? How much coin in to earn comp to nice restaurant / buffet? Any tips of any kind welcome. Thanks, RW.

Pala casino has 6/9 JOB at the $1 level.

If you go to the Valley View, they give you a free buffet when you sign up. They have one of the best, if not the BEST dinner buffet in SD. I;m a little disappointed with their VP as they tend to cater towards the slot player. hey have a nice smoke free area if you don't smoke.

There are about 5 casinos in the Rincon area. Harrah's naturally, then Valley View 4 miles away, then Pauma, about 10 miles or less, then Pala about 13 miles, and then Pechanga off the I-15 about 30 miles away.

Well, I prefer Barona, with an occational trip to Pala. Not a fan at all of Valley View... good concert venue though. Harrahs is just up the road, pretty casino, typical horrible Harrahs paytables. Be careful on the road there...dangerous. For some reason, I just can't get comfortable at Viejas. I've lived in La Jolla for many years... try the rooftop dining at Georges for lunch... you'll love it.

Enjoy San Diego!

We took the same trip a few years ago. It was a blast! Can't tell you much about the VP, as we weren't very serious about it at the time, but I can tell you that the area was beautiful and the gambling was fun. We stayed at Harrah's and hit Viejas, Pala, Valley View, and Pauma. Pauma was pretty small, but I liked it the best and had pretty good luck there. (Let's just say it had "character".) They had a $1.99 breakfast at the time, which was actually tasty. I think it's the closest one to Harrah's if I remember right. We were very lucky at Harrah's. Viejas was kind of wierd. Valley View was CROWDED!!! I'm sure whatever you do, you'll have a good time! The people were friendly and the area was beautiful. I think I remember that the drinks aren't comped. (phooey)

Just be warned that Harrahs Rincon is an hour from the San Diego airport under the best of conditions. Might want to take a look at a map to plan your trip.
