Hi group: I’ve been Sapphire for about the past 5+ years, will probably make renewal at that level, but am also confused by how the new ‘tear-tier’ pts system accrues - i.e.- it sounds like if you pull your card to take a break, change machines, or whatever, you will be PENALIZED if you do not earn a full tier (tear) point…lol.
vp only, or also slots?
I’ll be 'testing ’ the new system on a short visit next week from SoCAL, just passing thru.
My last planned visit is mid-December (I always enjoy LVegas decorated before the NYE crowds show up , and post rodeo,.
Ruby level Cash Grab offer - rare. Remember these? 3 free nights (Sam’s Town), and a dessert/tea where they give away random amounts of cash prizes (like $25, $40, $50, $75 and the rarer $100, $200-300-400-500) cash? It was a pretty good deal for invitees; and I haven’t seen or heard of one in a few years with all of my out-of-town contacts. Disclaimer is "Up to $5000 will be given away for invites who RSVP for the event (75 min - 150 max, I think). Funny that they’d have trouble getting “75”, but with all those here and on other blogs aware of the ‘new B-Connected’ system, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a dropoff in those that attend.
Anyhow, I was checking on my dad (Los Angeles), he’s quite slowing down, so doesn’t go as often, but when he went 3-4x/year, always on the free offers at Sam’s Town; He never made Sapphire, because he plays mostly only FPDW (and we here know how ST didn’t even honor multiplied pts on those machines); yet he still received 2 free (Sun-Thurs) nights every 3 months with $10 dining and $10 freeplay; not bad for a purely FPDW player, and then this offer in mid October (Cash Grab event) was thrown in, I advised him of the changes to the B-connected though, and thankfully he cashed out all his remaining pts (since he’s infrequently visiting now, and never sure if he’d even manage to make it back within 13 months to keep pts active). He won’t be able to go, scheduled medical appts, etc. but still nice to see the actual large post card offer (memories of fading good ole days).
Most likely he’ll switch to Stations and Fiestas, as he is established in Fiestas also for free rooms in future visits.
Anyone else still receive these Sam’s Town event offers? Please chime in.
I haven’t received anything like that or a free videopoker/slot tournment in over 2-3 yrs, and that’s playing as a higher level Sapphire (vs what my dad’s annual play totals are).
We can always hope for some marketing miracles…but I think the days of (Cash grabs, free tournament events, etc) are probably only going to be for the top tiers from now on. (and probably aimed at slot vs the vp population).
Thanks,
Martin, San Diego
