SAMS TOWN ... Bad News ...$2/point on FP machines

During the past few weeks, there has been a rumor floating around a
few of the players that changes were in the works at Sams Town.

Today the floor personel told some of us playing the FPDW that their
supervisor told them in a meeting that effective soon (likely
tomorrow if everything be put in place) all full pay machines will
REQUIRE TWO DOLLARS PER POINT instead of the current dollar per
point -- that Sams will have the same plicy as Stations.

OUCH!!

(I wonder if this is an action by the new head of Boyd Gaming ... or
some mid-level bean counters).

I guess with their HUGE 0.1% cashback you can't be to careful.

Yeah that .1% is a killer <g>.

But they will be following in Stations' footsteps (who had no cashback). ST has had fairly frequent 6 X point days in recent months, yielding .6% CB to go with their full pay games. That may have been successful at bringing people in, and this has to do with their desire to continue the 6X days without giving FP players too much (from their point of view) of an edge.

Just speculating, but it seems like a possibility.

Sams mailers to most locals have 6x each Sat, 5x each Fri, 4x each
Thur, and combinations of 4x or 3x on other pairs of days depending
on players' play histories ... with some days having cash play of $5
up to $40 (6 days @ $40 per month for higher level players). One of
the original rumors had them doing away with these, but they must
have decided to follow the $2/point route instead.

They will be having 6x days this coming Fri Sat Sun for Easter
weekend. This may be why the supervisor told the floor personel that
they are trying to get the new policy implemented ASAP.

I was at Sam's Town early this morning(monday) and can confirm all
full pay machines now have a label on them stating that it rquires $2
coin in to get 1 point.

I agree that this isn't good news as the quality of offers will get reduced because you will be perceived as playing less as a result. I just recently got a 3 night, and 2 meals for 2 offer instead of my usual 2 night and one meal for 2 offer. With this, I may backtrack again. But, as long as it is clearly posted on the machine that less points will be given, in reality, Sam's Town has the right to award points as they see fit. However, there are some alternatives. The 9/7 DB progressive behind the FPDW that starts at $1500 frequently gets in to positive territory and sometimes the 9/6 JOB near keno (starts at $1000 and moves slowly) gets in to positive territory. Sam's Town doesn't have signs on either of these banks that the machines are 100% thus this may be another way of still getting a good play there. Use of one's card at the buffet directly gets more than the official .16 value and perhaps using more multiple point opportunities to compensate might help. Also, check out the 9/6 DDB progressive near the FPDW as well - this sometimes also gets positive. I

The casino doesn't have to hear "Oink, Oink" to recognize a pig. I play on multiple point days too (when in town) but if you don't play at regular times as well (you still have an edge with optimum play) you stand out. Better to be less greedy!

good luck finding a seat at the 9/7 DB progreesive bank when its over
$2500.....just fyi, it was over $3300 at about 3am this morning when
it hit..no seats available until it hit then every seat was available
after it hit :slight_smile:
