I think I am becoming paranoid-er. In the first week of Sept., Sam's apparently had had enough of the wife and I coming in three or four times a week and taking some more of their money on the OEJ's and ST Deuces games, so they took them all out. I then figured we could get our coin in a little bit quicker, granted at a lot less return, on the 8-5-60 SA MS,which is right at 100% ER, and still get our $480 BB cash every month. Well, on Friday, I had an H. Ross Perot moment of, "well, there you go again." A good friend came by and spotted us play the 3-play 8-5 BP progressive, as the totals were decent, but there was a big skew on the top royal. He says " Looks like you've seen what they did to the super aces." He could tell by my deer in the headlights stare that I didn't, so he tells me the news that Sam's has now not only shorted the SA game but everything else that is playable. Even though I trust this friend implicitly, after we were done with the session, I walked down to view the carnage myself. On all single line and 5 play MS games, the 8-5-60 SA is now 6-5-60. Not bad enough that they kill the only break even game, even the 9-6 JOB's are now 8-5, and the 8-5 BP's are now 7-5 on all machines. In the time that we played the game, the wife and I only had one royal and only a few sets of top line aces. I can some what understand the SA cut, as it was 100% return, but to make negative games more negative. Of course, a year ago BYD stock was trading over $40, and they closed Friday at $5.22, so maybe "more negative" is part of the corporate mission statement. Jean Scot, if you're reading this, I have a question about your blog entry from yesterday discussing the casinos response to the downturn in the economy and in gaming, where you state that type 1 casinos cut, cut, cut. You go on to describe type 2 casinos, and I quote:
"The other reaction is just the opposite: "We are going to have to try harder to get new customers and keep more of our old ones." So those casinos are putting in better-paying video poker schedules, running more and better promotions, increasing player benefits, and training their employees to give extra-friendly customer service. These casinos know the casino business."
In Vegas, COULD YOU PLEASE NAME NAMES.
