I hear ya'--downtown is colorful but not really evil. I know what Babe and
Mike are saying about that stretch by EC, but along with those colorful fun
loving crack dealers and working women can be some new arrivals you really need to
be aware of when you walk. This is true, of course, anywhere--but in areas
where psycho's can blend in easily, you need to detour or be up for a run. I
have an office in downtown LA and like to walk all over Ramparts, the apparel
mart, etc. -- but on our true section of skid row I pump it up to a jog!!
Nonetheless, I still go there--love to take calculated risks.
