Just got back from a brief trip to LV. On my last day there, I
observed an incident that got me thinking about superstitious behavior
in casinos. I happened to be playing VP on a machine about 10 ft away
from a woman who was also playing VP. She was behind me and to my
left. All of a sudden, this woman starts lambasting someone for
watching her play VP. I turned around and noticed an older man who did
indeed appear to be watching her play but from a distance of about 10
- 15 ft. In other words, he was not hovering over her but merely
watching her from what I thought was a reasonable distance. I'm now
wondering, was this man being rude or was this woman somehow feeling
bad "vibes" from being observed? Is this an instance of casino
superstition or a reasonable reaction to rude behavior?
My sense is that it's the latter, since I don't think I'd like it too
much if someone was watching my play. OTOH, what difference does it
make if someone is watching how I play? Maybe I'm just being
cantankerous and superstitious.
How about others? Does it bother you to have someone watch while you
play VP? Have you ever stood by and watched others when they play?
What kind of reactions have you received?
