I just returned from a weekend in the blast furnace where I
authorized play at RP for my merry band of gamblers. I have recently
resurfaced on their mailing list and had two $5 free play coupons,
one which was good thru Friday and the other was good starting the
next day. I did not put on enough play to get the "pick a penguin
for money" swipe due to the heavy play by others on both my favorite
NSUD spin-poker machines. I've also decided I don't like coin
droppers anymore. I did play enough for the free Philly
cheesesteak, fries, and a soft drink and also the 2-for-1 buffet,
but I didn't eat anything at RP so I can't give a review.

I don't know the RP well, but I could not find the "8 25c NSUD Slant
Tops Upstairs in the Southeast Corner." There are a lot of vp
machines in that area, and the tournament machines are there, too.
I checked each bank and found Illinois deuces on all machines at all
denominations. I thought perhaps they were the slant tops on the
far south side since those were popular, but they were popular
evidently because they offer $.05 vp. The rest of the inventory
seems to be intact. Let me know if I was looking in the wrong place.

Of the two ColSux properties in Laughlin, the RP employees seem to
me to be the unhappiest. I had good customer service at the Trop
Ex, but mediocre to indifferent service at RP. AQ was jammin' all
weekend with a Three Card Poker tournament and people in town for
the Bullhead City River Regatta. AQ was really loud and frantic.
My home Harrah's was busy with several charter groups in house,
including mine. I skipped GN, Pioneer, CB, EW, and Don's place
completely. By Sunday night, everything had settled down.

I am glad to hear that your junket plane didn't crash or the HET bus flip
over. Blast furnance? It couldn't have been more than 108 degrees or so, but I
will give you the fact that August nights never give relief. There is
something wrong when a oven like breeze hits you in the face at midnight. How was
the full moon rise over the river?

Let me set the record straight, ColSux was first used by Drew. I used
(stole) it recently on this board. I think it fits quite well.

I think the RP database needs to be tweaked if those single line NSUD are
still listed upstairs. That bank of 8 (2x4) got moved downstairs into the
Winner's Wharf area. These are old CRT models with the special "River Palms" logo
back glass.

So you can still double dip on the regional twice a month bouncebacks. So
did you collect the kiosk food coupons even if you didn't use them? My
recollection is they were good for 48 hours after kiosk generation. That 100 point
buffet deal used to be good for a half off of one buffet too.

As far as the attitude of RP employees in general versus Trop Express, I
agree. But we must remember that RP got gobbled up by ColSux several years before
they bought out Aztar. They have experienced the tyranny/arrogance/bungled
management of "Kentucky based" Columbia-Sussex alot longer than TE employees.

Hey Hamstockman, how is it at Mont Bleu, another oldtime ColSux property?
They got sued up there too right?

ColSux actually owns two properties at Lake Tahoe also- Horizon and
MontBleu. The owner of the land and building (Park Cattle) sued the
Horizon--- something about not taking care of the building- sewage
under the stage. They settled, but when the lease expires, ColSux is
out of there. Times are tough at South Lake Tahoe, and are soon to
get worse when a huge Indian casino opens in a few months on the road
to the casinos in California.

If anyone is interested, the Horizon still has an operating Sigma
Derby game- always packed. That game is the old horseracing game that
used to be everywhere, including Laughlin.

I am trying to fit in a trip to Laughlin next month.
