RP or Harrahs

I will be in Laughlin for two days, late in July. I can get comped
at either the River Palms or Harrahs. I have stayed at Harrahs last
year, but was traveling alone. This year I will have my wife
along. She is not a gambler (I guess one in the family is enough),
and she like the pool, SPA, and shopping but not necessarily in that
order.
My question is what has the better rooms, best food, and best VP?
Thanks in advance

Ill have to agree with most of what yuma_dave said, but we find the buffet at RP sometimes pretty decent. They seem to be hit or miss (like my vp  ) They have a good late night buffet. We also like the Hickory Pit steakhouse at EW and the Italian restaurant at RP. Don't forget the outlet shopping mall across from the Edgewater.

We usually stay at RP or EW depending on the comps and promotions. Have never stayed at Harrahs. For us 25c players, Harrahs is a wasteland.

Remember,if you stay ay Harrahs you must take a taxi or water taxi to get anywhere else,

Skip in Iowa,

Well if you have a non-gambler then Harrahs must be it! Harrahs has
two pools and a beach. One pool is adult only. The new Market
Square buffet should be tops now in Laughlin. They have had a couple
months now to work out the bugs.

For VP there are enough choices even for the quarter player, Jacks
9/6, Sigma DJ and nickel Jacks 9/6 Fifty-play. Dollars you have
Jacks, NSUD and DB 10/7. Check the database for details.

On the downside there are 98% games in the bartops. Service is
always tops at Harrahs.

Harrahs really has more transportation options than the water taxi
and regular taxi. One thing to remember is the water taxi only runs
10a-midnight. There is not enough water flow for service after
midnight.

Walking out of Harrahs really is not that bad if you are in shape.
You walk out the west main enterance and see a parking garage. On
the north end, where the valet parks the cars, is a path that leads
to some steps. It is about four flights up, but you have a hand
rail. There is time to smell the flowers and scout for critters.
You always want to walk on Casino Drive between Harrahs and River
Palms. Once you approach the RP parking garage cut over to the
northeast corner on the top level where you can take the elevators.
Cutting through RP puts you on the river walk.

Another under utilized form of transportation is the free shuttle
that goes down to the Regency. They will drop you off on Casino
Drive (for the mall) or by the front door, which puts you between the
Flamingo and Edgewater. It runs at the top and bottom of the hour
from the south end of Harrahs. There is a bus shelter out the door
by the buffet. Hours are 10a-6p.

It sounds like I am a Harrahs rep! I stay at GNL, RP and the
Pioneer, but Harrahs would be my choice for a non-gambler.

BS

Life is full of compromises, and it sounds like this will be one of
those events. I agree with bluestreak that Harrahs is probably the
best choice for you. I would get up in the morning and take the river
taxi to the Edgewater. Walk with your wife to the front door of the
place, give her a kiss on the cheek, give her some cash, and point
her to the Outlet Mall across the street. Tell her to take her time
shopping, and when she leaves, you will be within 15 feet of some of
the FPDW machines in the Edgewater. Lots of good plays at the EW, and
your wife will be close by. Have a great and winning trip.
