Anyhow, we're in town for 6 days, then to Vegas for 2 more. The first 3 in
Laughlin are always at Ramada (the boys favorite spot - they consider it
their home away from home).

So how does it work for you over at the Ramada? Do they send mail? You
comped upfront?

I gave them a $6k afternoon a couple years ago and never heard a peep. I
like the place, never have slept in it.

I hear they are redoing rooms. Columbia-Sussex will get the keys from Aztar
soon too. I will be curious to see if they sell off one of the Laughlin
casinos since they own River Palms too.

We receive a bi-monthly newsletter and tournament offers. We followed
our excellent Host, Leslie Lough, there when she left the EW.

Just booked a Harrah's charter to Laughlin, does anyone here have any
experience with these? Thinking about practical things like seat
assignments, boarding times etc.

They send me only the very occasional marketing piece. But they email once or twice a
  month.

They never offer me free rooms - I call them. Whenever I have, they comp the first 2 nites,
and quote a rate for the third night. Before checkout I visit the booth, where they comp the
  third night.

In my experience (stayed at 5 of 9 casinos) only the Nugget's rooms are nicer. I ask for
the back tower, and they always give me a room around the 25th floor. The view across
  the mountains is spectacular.

VP is ok - a few DB7/10, JB and BP. The latter offer 3X pay for quad 7's.

Best of all, they serve Rolling Rock beer at the $1 machines in the centre of the casino.

We use the Harrahs charter to Laughlin all the time. Seats are given out in order of booking. Don't know where you are coming from so may be different charter than ours and different airline. We are treated good with all luggage handling done for us.

We took a couple of these last year. In Chicago they now fly out of O'Hare
and Midway on MD 80 (3 seats one side and 2 seats on the other side) type
planes. Seats are preassigned. Checking luggage and getting your boarding
pass can be kind of a zoo because on the outbound flight you are using
another airlines facilities, but things get more efficient after that. The
planes tend to drop out of the sky near Wichita or some other small
metropolis airport to refuel, but if there are few enough passengers they
will do nonstop.

Checked baggage is handled by Harrah's and transported directly from the
cargo hatch to your room. This may take a little while, so don't check
anything you will need immediately. Busses pick up passengers and carry
them the short distance to Harrah's. When you get off the bus you can
quickly pick up a drink and packet containing your room key just outside of
the casino. Deposit carry ons and commence to gambling.
