royals

Royals almost always come along when you least expect them.
My last royal was a couple weeks ago at Valley View Casino in San Diego
County.
I held the King and Queen of Diamonds and the rest just filled in.

The only time that I was not surprised was my $7,000 Progressive win at the
Wynn last year, I had been playing quarters and my wife asked me to bring
her a glass of wine up to the room.
As I crossed the casino headed for the bar, I noticed that the dollar
progressive Royal was over $7,000 (normally $4,000). I had pretty good luck at
quarters and I had a "feeling" so I sat down to play.
Within a few minutes I was dealt an Ace, King and Queen of Clubs. I
thought "this could be it" and VOILA
up popped the Jack and the Ten of Clubs. I half expected it for some
reason.
Then I thought of all the people who had been banging away all day and
probably all week to win the jackpot that I had won with so little effort.
Sometimes life isn't fair.
Lucky for me the Obama Police weren't there to confiscate my winnings and
redistribute to "make it fair"-HA!

Hi,

Someone mentioned this casino in a post today, and I"m wondering what your opinion is of it - the environment, etc. I am curious about going there, just have no idea what it is actually like inside.
How would you compare it to Pala, or Pechanga?

Thanks so much,
Valerie

Have you ever not gone back to a casino just because of the "feel" of the place? Well, that's how I react to VV. Even during the day, it's too crowded for me. Some good DW SP last time I went. The line to the players club is waaaaaay long. Good concert venue outside, saw Randy Travis there. Caution needed on the twisty road , especially at night. I've been to most of the casinos in SD County and Pechanga, I'd rate this place middle of the bunch.

I love the place, but a friend of mine puts it best: they're a victim of their own success. They're very well run and offer a very good gamble for the money, and have a top notch buffet and restuarants.

Too many bus tourists, yes, nothing against bus tourists, but the place needs another expansion to handle all the traffic.

After all the interesting remarks about VV, I'm curious what all of you think of Pala. You've definitely made me curious to go to VV and see what it's like (but only during the day!)

My feeling about Pala is that since their expansion, for some reason it seems dirtier and the machines seem older in certain areas. For example the multi-denomination progressive carousel used to be "nice" and fairly clean when it was over by the old high limit room - but when I sat down at it the last time I went, none of the buttons were working and it was dirty, so I just got up - the paytable is so bad anyway.
And the old triple-play progressives used to be fun (the $1 games) - when I finally found them they were, once again, very dirty and none of the buttons worked. It was awful.

Same with the old slant top $1 progressives which are now scattered around instead of being in one area.

I was disappointed.

I agree with you about Pala. The buttons don't work that well and are sticky. I use to go there a lot, but now I got to Pechanga. At Pechanga, all the buttons work and the screens are nice and new. Plus they have 25 cent 9/6 JOB.

Yes Tim the machines are nice but have you ever hit a royal on any of them. I do post on the Calif board...but I will say it here.. I have never seen anyone hit a royal at Pechanga. I go there frequently and play the .50 NSUD and the $1 NSUD in high limit and out on the floor. In fact, seeing anyone hit the deuces is few and far between. Not true at Pala though.

I got a royal there last Friday, March 5. I was there on Saturday the 13th and I saw a lady get a Royal on the 50cent JOB. I'm curious to checkout Valley View, have you ever been there??
