There's no such thing as "required" 40000 hands. Royal flushes don't
come in as clockwork. You're as likely (or unlikely) to hit one after
40000 hands are you are hitting one on your first hand.
Another case in point of this:
My brother traveled to Las Vegas with me for CES this year and by the last
night of our stay, he was again bitterly complaining about his lack of Royals
despite playing for almost 10 years.
We stopped out at Sam's town for lack of a better destination (we had been
staying at Fiesta Henderson) and sure enough, he finally hit a Royal. We drove
over to the strip and decided to play for a while at the bar at the Barbary
Coast. And within 15 minutes, he hit ANOTHER Royal.
I told him he was statistically forbidden from again complaining about any
sort of Royal drought until at least 2015. (The best I could manage this past
trip was TWO Royals on the .01 50 play machines at Fiesta Henderson. Related
to a recent discussion, these were both in a single "play", by holding four.
That winds up being a lot of pennies.)
