Royal Flush on Cruise

Judy and boarded a cruise, to Alaska, on 7/23.

Next morning, visited casino; found that it was offering double double with a 6-5-4-3-1-1 pay schedule (FH thru Jacks/better). Without doing detailed calculations, appears to be about a 95% payback ratio; I suggested that we avoid play.

But, the Royal was paying over $1700; while I was otherwise occupied, Judy played a few hands.

Lo and behold, she got AQJT8 of diamonds; discarded the 8 and HIT the royal.

I STILL don't approve of playing that game, but I DID allow her to keep the money :>:>:>.

LOL! But it just goes to show how big a part luck can play.....And I would think if I was on a cruise it would still be fun to play for entertainment unless there was something else I wanted to do more. I can't see myself boycotting the games because of a bad pay schedule, because there are certainly times I want to play for entertainment and not in an attempt to "make money". And she made money anyway! Congrats.

Wow, that IS some good luck! A quick peek at the Frugal VP Scouting Guide shows the return on that paytable to be 94.66%, and the progressive would have needed to be at $3,216 to make it a break-even proposition! Good for you guys!

"Congratulations, you beat the odds" (Tom Ski quote).
I lost $1K gambling on a cruise ship couple of months ago. It was 95% DDB STP. We got $25 for our play so I think that means we did $25K action. I wouldn't boycott but I would take into great consideration what the paytables on a ship are when choosing. And from what I can tell there are cruise ships with "decent" paytables (98% yuck).

It was a 7 day cruise so that's about an hour a day gambling. It's a $150/hour "entertainment" at 95% EV. It should be awfully good entertainment (It wasn't :-))

VPFREE mothership could launch a VPCRUISE group so paytables can be compared. The ship we were on was the NCL Spirit. It was Boston to Bermuda. Casino sucked bigtime. There was one 25 cent Diamond Mine slot machine that was wongable.

Punchline: Won another cruise this time from Harrah's New Orleans.
Cruise ship is the NCL Spirit. They cruise out NO in the winter. Sigh.

I didn't see a list on VPFree2.com.

I played this game on videopoker.com and had some luck. Anyone seen the game near HRH or on strip.

Thanks.

Wife and I both hit $4,000 royals on a Monte Carlo sponsored RCL cruise last November. You never know when they will hit!

I played this in January at Harrahs, they had one machine. Orleans also has it.

If you go back to videopoker.com, it will show you all the casinos that have the game.

Several casinos on the Strip appear to have the machines.
