Preston, losing $250 at JOB dollars is going to happen a lot. H Dunbar has a great program that shows risk of ruin for various games, bankrolls and cash back. The program is called Dunbar's Risk Analyzer for Video Poker or DRA.
For your situation, a bankroll of $250 and 30 minutes of play ( 400 hands) has an ROR of 24%. That means 1 out of 4 times you will go broke. Increase it to 1 hour of play and your ROR is 47%. The RF value doesn't affect short term ROR. If you hit the royal, you won't go broke. You might want to either a) rethink your bankroll or b) play quarters.
