I am looking for cheaper rooms on March 10 and 11. I have a friend
who will be in town that weekend, but who hasn't made a reservation
yet, and that weekend is apparently a NASCAR weekend and everything is
sold out!
Does anyone have any ideas? I can't be there, but I do have some comp
balances at Harrah's as well as downtown, but I don't know how to use
them for him without me being there.
I looked at off strip properties too but everything is booked or is $400/night.

Devin, I just ran into this situation myself. Friends bought airfare
for Jan 28, Chinese New Year's. Until they tried to book room, they
had no idea it was CNY.
I had given them a Harrah's free night coupon, but it was only good
Sun-Thurs plus, they were booked solid due to holiday, could not even
buy.
I contacted longtime host at Rio (9 yrs) to see if she could help get
them booked. Her response was, which hotel would they prefer? she
comped both nights, upfront with no prior play as a favor to me. If
you have a host you been with for a longtime or feel close too, you
may want to try that route. Like Queen Jean says, ask.
