I also don't get to Vegas very often anymore, with closer-to-home casinos having a net advantage for me and my interests and values most of the time now.

When I do go, since I can't afford the $5 machines, I don't find playable VP at Harrah's properties, so I don't play VP while there -- so I end up paying for my room, even though I'm Diamond from action elsewhere, since they know I will stay there and not play. For that reason, I also find Harrah's, although not that great, my choice due to low cost and good location.

My info of value is minimal, but I know there are different towers and some are nicer than others; the desk clerk or a reservations agent may be able to tell you which is best and whether it's available at no extra charge.

I also know, from other threads here in the past, that asking for an upgrade at check-in, esp. if accompanied by a $10-20 tip to the desk clerk, can often get a much nicer room than the standard room that was promised.

As you indicate, the standard room is pretty minimal in quality and amenities, but as you indicate, and it's the same for me as well, the location is worthwhile, the price is reasonable if you're in your own pocket for the room and don't expect to spend much time in the room, and in the absence of an accompanying spouse, that is enough to take me to Harrah's also, so don't apologize too heavily for your decision

We are sorry if this question has been answered before, but
multiple searches of old messages have not produced any
info.

We will be staying @ harrahs LV for 4 days early next
month. We know it is not the fanciest, but the
price/location made it very attractive. Anybody have
thoughts on what location/type room we should try to get?

We requested a king bed and a non-smoking room, and wonder
what else we should seek. The clerk who took our reservation
told us we should ask for an upgrade on check-in. As
we are rarely in LV and have never been inside this
particular property any advice as to which
tower(s)/floor(s)/views etc. are most desirable would be
appreciated.

I stay at Harrah's every time I go to Vegas. Have never had a problem and the rooms are always acceptable and clean. My only advice would be to avoid any rooms that face and overlook the Carnival Court. The music goes on most of the night and you won't be able to sleep. So always ask for an "inside" room.
