Rao's is wonderful. Good food, romantic atmosphere. My only complaint was they played a strange mix of music.

It's the diners picking songs on the juke box.

My impression of Rao's from my recent trip report last month:
We had a $75 dining credit with our room offer so we decided to try
Rao's which everyone in Vegas has raved about. After haggling with
the reservations agent, I finally got a table booked (Seven Star
status was definitely the key) near the time we wanted.
We arrived and were immediately seated though initial service was a
bit weak. I selected a glass of Pinot along with a bowl of pasta
fagioli while my wife ("C") ordered a house salad. The soup was
served piping hot but was somewhat lacking in flavor and a bit of a
disappointment (especially at $12). C's salad was topped with a
wonderful dressing atop freshly tossed greens. C ordered the shrimp
Diablo and I requested a chicken (instead of veal) marsala. The
server said they don't have chicken breast in the kitchen and the
chef couldn't prepare it. Ohhhhkay, I thought
.no chicken breast but
they serve quartered chicken in the famous Uncle's Lemon chicken
dish. I guess the chef doesn't want to have to cut off the breast?
Whatever, I thought and went ahead and ordered the lemon chicken dish
that Rao's is famous for. C's shrimp Diablo consisted of either six,
or eight (I don't recall) of the largest shrimp I've ever seen. The
sauce had a nice kick to it and accompanied the shrimp very nicely.
My lemon chicken was also quite tasty though somewhat of a PIA to eat
since it's literally a quartered chicken drowning in an olive oil
lemon sauce. Since I'm not a fan of dark meat chicken, I ended up
wasting the leg and thigh (sigh).
I also requested a ½ order of penne Bolognese which I was charged me
$17 for (so much for the reasonable prices I thought they had). The
pasta was al dente and the meat sauce was definitely freshly
prepared. Dessert was a fabulous slice of tiramisu with a bold and
richly blended cup of coffee.
When the check (totaling $138) was delivered, I requested a room
charge and presented my photo ID (I left the room charge slip in the
room). The server said he couldn't get my room number with just an
ID (heard of a phone and front desk partner? Obviously not) and he
told me I'd have to walk back to my room. I was none too pleased
with this to say the least
. Overall, I give our meal a "B" mainly
due to the server's attitude and unwillingness to go the extra step
which should be expected in an outlet such as this IMHO.

I took my wife to 808 on our last trip. Its dimly lit, and the food is real good. They had some interesting cocktail's, that enhanced the mood for both of us. <g>
