So. My 4 weeks were up, and I thought I'd spend some time catching up
on whatever it is I missed. What facts might RoJ have been spewing
while I was gone? How many posts might I get in before I received
another suspension? The whole world wonders.
Much to my surprise and amusement, I saw that RoJ had taken his ball
and gone home. It wasn't my intent to precipitate such a decision on
his part. I know that the vpFREE administrator liked to read his
posts despite his inflammatory nature. vpFREE administrator: I
apologize for whatever role I have played in RoJ's departure; that
wasn't my overt goal.
First, I want to respond to RoJ's assertion that the vpFREE
administrator was cutting me slack because we have been friends for a
long time. Quite the contrary. I tried to couch my flame emails in
words that I thought might skirt just within the letter of the law in
regards to the vpFREE administrator's NPC policy. Unfortunately, he
knows me too well and has read enough of my rants over the year to be
fooled. I made a token effort to convince him that my remarks didn't
go over the line, but I gave up pretty easily.
Secondly, I want to respond to RoJ's characterization that the vpFREE
administrator is a rule-monger and a petty dictator. RoJ, you dumb
bastard. You're going to have to look pretty hard to find someone who
is more easy-going and as pleasant to spend time with as the vpFREE
administrator. He has quite explicitly stated why he has certain
policies, and it's his every right to run the mailing list as he sees
fit. If you don't like his rules, go start your own list!
Finally, here's a bit of information regarding why I flamed RoJ. It
all started with his going on about TEAM NERD in Northern Nevada.
Some members of TEAM NERD sent him some silly emails which became
private flame wars -- the usual barbs were traded, such as remarks
about hygiene and inquiries about sexual proclivities. In the midst
of this, RoJ made some overt threats to "out" those he had seen
playing. It turns out that the persons who were sending him email
weren't the persons he had seen playing. This bothered me a bit, so I
decided to flame him for my own amusement.
My first suspension was almost certainly deserved. I told the vpFREE
administrator that I wouldn't do it again. In one of my first return
posts, I mentioned nominating RoJ for a net.kook award. I didn't
regard that as a personal attack, but the vpFREE administrator did.
Here's the funny part: when the vpFREE administrator suspended me
again, he suspended RoJ too! I keep reading the emails I have that
RoJ wrote around that time, and I still don't see anything that I
found to be objectionable. I suppose that the vpFREE administrator
did. Like I said, it's his mailing list, and he can run it however he
likes.
It wasn't my intent to run RoJ off, but it's kind of funny to me that
it has happened. How pathetic. Wah! Wah! Mommy, a mean man called
me a bad name! Wah! Wah! Mommy, the playground monitor said I had
to take a "time out." Wah! Wah! Mommy, I'm never going back to that
playground again!
Grow up, RoJ.
