Road Work on I-15 from LA to LV over 4th of July weekend. HELP

Hello,

I know I am due for a Royal and I must go to Vegas over this weekend!
I have heard a nasty rumor that there is major road work to be done on
the I-15 which can cause major delays.

I have been unable to find out specifics as to what time and location
these closures will occur.

Please can anyone direct me to a link or a source that can give me
specifics? I'd really appreciate it.

Sue

You can call 1-800-GAS-ROAD for Caltrans' automated construction
updates. For I-15, it says that motorists are subject to delays 24
hours per day from 8AM on Monday to 8AM on Friday. However, since
roadworkers are a union outfit, I doubt they'd be working over the
holiday weekend or on the Monday before July 4.

I-15 from LA to LV should be fine as far as I've been thru it the last
few weeks. The problem is on the southbound (going back to LA). There
are a lot of BUMPS that you'll encounter and maybe that's where the
Road Work you are talking about is going to be.
You can visit www.thehighwaystation.com or listen to their stations
while on I-15 on FM 98 or 99.

There's lane closures this week on I-15 N between Primm and Jean,
about a 15 mile stretch. Hopefully it won't slow you up too much.

The road temperature is a major hazard also. At over 125 the tires of
any car can blow out. Changing them at midnight under a full moon and
a nice breeze was kinda a memorable experience. Make sure you have
proper pressure and good tread. I would drive the Mojave Freeway (how
old is that sign?) after dark.

The bumps on the return drive are very bad in a couple places. I saw
roadwork both coming and going between the hours of 11pm and 7am. Also
backups from numerous people changing flats and lookeeloos. A holiday
weekend I would try to drive off peak hours and at night.
