Riviera Update...

Ah, the Riviera giveth and taketh away... As reported earlier, the 4
Bally Gamemakers with the .25 10/7/80 machines have been banished to
never never land. I personally have not been too lucky with them, but
it is a sad day to see a dinosaur become extinct.

But, now the good news. In the high limit areas ther are now 2 $5
9/6/239 JOB single line machines. Not great news mind you, but if
you're platinum with 3X cashback, not a bad play.

Gimme, I agree! I loved those machines and did quite well on them.

Thanks to the scumbags, errrrrr....the VP Hogs, errrrr...high rolling
local advantage players who were unscruprelously recruiting ex-
girlfriends ans homeless poeple from the mission to sigh up as locals
for the multi-pt new sign bonus. Shocked the Riv let it last so long!

Has any one calculated the decrease in overall payback with the straight flush reduced to 239 from 250 per coin? Getting 239 just means more in the casino's coffers as the only difference to you is paying the tax on the $55 as a win of $1195 is just as taxeable (except for the $55) as $1250 win. If you play a lot of this game, the $55 difference each time could add up.

Changing the SF from 250 to 239 for 5 coins on 9/6 JoB gives a return
of 99.520%. It seems to me that the "no W2-G" would make a big
difference for many players when recording their playing sessions.
I'm a little surprised that no gamemaker hasn't come out with a $1
"9/6 JoB NoW2G" game with a RF paying $1195 instead of $4000 and a
four of a kind paying 155 instead of 125 for a return of 99.770%.
Throw in a little CB and that would be a nice game.

You and I might find the paytable appealing, but the average player
has "eyes on the prize". Jackpots are what put money in the casinos'
coffers, not practicality.

And, looking at it, again, from a purely "practical" point of view, would not such an obvious
"tax dodge" raise a lot of etebrows at the IRS?

Harry, you are 100% correct. Unfortunately, the average player is looking for variance, not trying to avoid it.

<smile> Why is it, when we talk about the tortoise (low variance) and the hare (high
variance), I always side with the tortoise?

Boy, I have such a hard time with the ups and downs of DDB and other VP of that ilk (variance
50 and above). I know most feel the other way, but JOB makes me feel so much better. LOL!
