Riviera $1000 Sign Up Promo

Does anyone know whether the Riviera offer is literally
"slots" (no vp) or if they really mean "machines" (vp included)?

I asked them about this, sending it to an email address I found on their website. I also asked for confirmation that a player whose account has been inactive 24 months or longer is eligible for the loss rebate.

My questions and their replies are below.

I asked:

Hi, I have two questions about the $1000 Guarantee.

Can it be earned playing video poker or just slot machines
(reels and video reels)?

I read the rules online, but am I correct that I'm eligible
for this promotion if my account has been inactive for at
least 24 months?

The following are not reimbursable:

Video Poker in denoms of $2, $5, $10 and $25
Triple Play and Five Play Pokers
Electronic Blackjack, Craps and Roulette.

Once the free play is earned it can be used on any machine,
including those listed above.

Yes, 24 months or longer.

This is all correct. Machines excluded from the promotion have stickers on them which declare them ineligible. It should also be noted that not all slot machines are eligible, including all the $25+ games in the HL room, and some of the $10 slots. Why they block some, but not all, $10 games is beyond me (it's also beyond the knowledge of most of the employees I spoke to). Additionally, all machines with progressive jackpots are excluded.

These restriction were implemented on Tuesday. I'm not sure what happened to prompt these countermeasures, but I have a good idea. If anyone has some stories, but the information is sensitive, feel free to email me directly.

While these countermeasures certainly cut into the EV of this promo, it's still a good play. Additionally, I happened upon some machines with 8/5 Bonus Poker, which is not listed on vpFree2.com. These machines are scattered throughout the casino, so you'll need to do some scouting.

Oh I think we all can figure that one out-someone hit for a few grand on a $25 machine and management puked all over themselves!
Everyone better hit this promotion fast because I can see it going away as I type.

All machines in high limit now have the restricted sticker on them.
