River Palms vs Edgewater

I have to organize a Laughlin trip for 2 people who have never been
there before. It's been 3 1/2 years since I was there. I've stayed
at the RP but never at the EW. They both seem to have the best VP in
Laughlin, but what about rooms, food (especially buffet), and pool.
Any input will be appreciated.

I would only recommend the Sedona tower at EW or the tower at RP. Both
tower rooms are about equal. I've tried to get the west view at EW but
they seem to fill up first. Only stayed on the river view side. I've
been disappointed in the non tower rooms at either EW or RP.

Ate at the RP buffet many times. They seem to be hit or miss. Only ate
one time at EW buffet, seemed to be OK maybe a bigger selection than
RP. Got comped at the EW steak house which was good. Both coffee shops
are OK and equal. RP usually has a 2 for 1 buffet promo if you earn
maybe 100 points (no point reduction). You can use your comp money for
the rest of the price. Which is why we still have about $300 in food
comps at RP.

Never used the pools rather be playing vp. RP has a small beach area on
the river.

RP always seems to be more relaxed and EW more congested. RP has a non
smoking room and high ceilings that help with the smoke. While EW has
lower ceilings and more smoke.

RP has 25c slant tops and uprights FPDW while all EW 25c FPDW are uprights.

I have stayed in both places, and I think the rooms are better at the
River Palms. The location of the EW is much better, with the Flamingo
and Colorado Belle very close. Harrahs buffet is better than all of
them along the river. The newbies might get a kick out of the taking
the river taxi down there. If you decide to stay at the EW, check out
the dining options at the Colorado Belle. Pools? I never tried any of
them, as I have a pool at home, but no casino. I would rather spend
time at the VP.

RP hasn't had a beach on the river since the property was sold a year
or two ago. The event center and beach to the north weren't part of
the deal.
