River Palms VP Tourney Sept 17-19th/Post-Mortem

According to The Entertainer they are doing another $20k VP tourney. It appears
to be a good overlay deal, even for a $30 entry fee. So how long do you get to
play? They state top 200 advance to Saturday. How many enter? Is it a
on-your-demand session time? Do they add up the two day's scores? They say
they will draw 17 names on Sunday at 1pm for losers.

Anything you can remember will help me make up my mind.

Post-Mortem: This September version went like this- play 2 five minute qualifier rounds on Friday anytime between 10a-4pm, top 200 get (win $10 free-play) to do it again on Saturday. First round score does not count. Top 100 cash at least $50. Anyone not in the Top 100 can put in their one ticket for a "second chance" drawing on Sunday at 1pm.

The VP seemed to be standard issue Jacks, no paytable posted on these old IGT skinny uprights. You could play about 1000 hands/hour rate. Tourney seemed to run smoothly.

I scored 980 for my first ten minutes without any quads to qualify 48th out of 237 entered, so that got me $10. It took 830 to be in the Top 100 in the first round. My score of 975, no quads got me 44th ($50)out of the 193 who showed up to do round two.

So giving away $20,000 to 237 players had a value of $84.39 per entry. They comped or discounted alot of players, but my $30 entry was still a good value.

I will do it again and maybe playing it will generate a low level mailer. No RP mail for about 4 years now.
