River Palms -- Some Bonus Pokers are NOT true Bonus Pokers

Somebody told me the other day that River Palms now has quarter 8/5 Bonus Poker again (the full pay version of Bonus Poker).

NO ... some of their machines show a "Bonus Poker" game, and, yes, they are 8/5. But they are NOT true Bonus Poker ... all 4 of a kinds pay 150 instead of the normal bonus poker paytables of 4 aces (400), four 2,3,4 (200) and other 4X at 125.

These so called Bonus Poker are nothing but Jacks or Better shorted to 8/5 from 9/6 and 4X increased slightly from 125 to 150. (Payback about 98.5%).

(Most of these machines that I saw are downstairs -- and there are still many true Bonus Poker machines -- but shorted to 7/5 from 8/5).

GENERAL COMMENT: Although machines are usually referred to by their full house / flush paybacks at 1 coin level (e.g., 9/6 jacks, 8/5 bonus poker, etc) and these are the items that casinos short, BE SURE TO LOOK AT THE ENTIRE PAYTABLE ... a game called bonus poker without A,2,3,4 bonuses is not bonus poker ... also, watch out for another version of bonus poker that does have the A,2,3,4 bonuses and the 8/5 payouts, but with the two-pair payout shorted to 5 instead 10.

Thanks Tom. I noticed that in Reno awhile back too. The Sands in Reno has a row of the exact same thing and since I just saw the "8/5" and didn't pay attention to what the low quads were paying back I was sucked in. But no more.
