On a trip earlier this week to Laughlin, we spent about 35 minutes

the RP. It used to be one of our favorite casinos, bit now looks

it is fading fast. We had to leave...
There is a lot (A LOT) of empty floor space throughout the casino.
The banks of VP machines on either side of the escalators on the
upper
floor are gone. There are still some along the walls & railings, but
nothing in the middle of the floor. I didn't take an inventory, so I
don't know what is gone and what remains.
Many machines - slots and VP - have been moved or are missing all
over
the casino.
This was about 11AM on Monday and the place was pretty quiet. The
Belle and Edgewater at the same time were packed. IN fact, the
Belle's
poker room had almost all of the tables going and the EW has
returned
poker (I guess to handle the overflow from CB) in the pit area. Rp
was
relocating their poker room back to where it used to be, at the
bottom
of the escalators - meaning the High Limit Slot area is gone.
The Winner's Warf at the VP is all but gone. The "gateway" is still
there, but the ropes that defined the area are gone and there
appears
ยทยทยท
to be fewer machines.
It was pretty depressing just to walk around. We even watched them
take down the large VP machines that stood guard over the escaltors.
Maybe - hopefully - they are just trading spaces in the casino.

Hmmmm...ok. I was there 1/29.
Twentyfour VP machines that were in the main foyer were moved over to
the Subway/Shipwrecked bar area. A new stage has been set up next to
the Shipwrecked bar for live tunes. No more New Carribian band,
thank goodness. 12 Deuces made it over there. Still a couple left
by the escalators, but roomier.
I never liked all that foot traffic and the marble floors by the
front door. Hopefully the cocktail service and floorpeople find this
new VP hotbed. Restrooms are closer.
The promotions stage is downstairs next to Winner's Wharf, which
eases the bottlenecks when it was upstairs. The snack bar is gone,
but so what, other joints have better ones. You now can still play
while waiting for your name to be called.
ALL the big Bertha games (6+) are now lined up in front of the
Bermuda Club, including the $5 Bonus/prog. It is kind of impressive.
The only games gone in Winner's Wharf were the triple plays, which
were shorted 1 1/2 years ago. Same good COD promo and same decent
service. All the high limit games are still in the place, just down
towards the buffet.
I think they took out some BJ tables, since they are not doing that
free/cheap tourney anymore. You can actually sit at a BJ table
without getting smacked in the back, too bad they have not improved
the BJ games. Much better rules up and down the river for BJ and
Craps.
The new owners have goofed up the comps a bit. You can't use a kiosk
coupon and use comp monies. You can't get a haircut anymore with
comp money. But strong mailers are almost back to what they used to
be.
The promos are decent again. Double points/comps on Tues/Weds. Spin
for stuff on Monday. Thursday is "empty the hopper" starting at
8:30a. A stronger "young at heart" on Friday. February promo is
$1000/day cash (3x$100 and $700).
Frankly, I like the new set-up. I think I will book it for February
to see what the rooms look like again.
I burned up a $15 birthday comp (like anyone needs any more comp $)
in the coffee shop, T-bone special, small but tasty and some huge hot
chicken fingers.
