We will be staying at Rio (comped via Greektown-Detroit) for 2 nights in September. What is the best VP they have? I tend to get up early to play and am also wondering if I can walk to Gold coast or Palms
I am a $.25 or $.50 cent player and prefer DB or Dueces.
Any advice?

You can walk to them both if you're in pretty good shape.

You'll see that the Rio has terrible VP. The Gold Coast and Palms are
very close to the Rio and can be walked to easily. Check out their
database pages, along with the entire LV Casino directory to find your
favorite games:

According to these pages, the Palms has your favorite games, and the
Gold Coast has NSUD, but not full pay DW or DB.

You can check the database for the Rio, but you will probably be
disappointed.
But you can walk to the Palms and play the 10/6 DDB and 10/7 DB. If
you are feeling bold, the Plams still has a $1 10/7 DB bank with a
progressive. Early in the day when it's not too hot, it's a nice
walk. Just be real careful when crossing Flamingo Road.

Use the Rio as your hotel, the rooms are nice. The meals at the Rio
are fine also. Do your gambling at Coast and Palms, you will find
that no matter what game you are playing the Rio is perhaps the worst
overall casino to gamble in in Vegas.
There is also a shuttle from the Gold Coast to the strip and probably
one from the Rio to Harrah's on the strip.
