The best machine now at Rio is $5 9/6 JB in the high roller area; I think
there are 2 or 3 of them. For $1 players 8/5 Bonus poker is the best, the next
best is 8/6 JB in Triple Play machines. For quarter players the best is Sneaky
Queens 8/5 Bonus poker and regular 8/5 Bonus Poker in Gamemakers. In triple
play there is 8/6 JB and maybe 8/5 Bonus Poker in quarters.
The "Beventertainers" have now started at the Rio. This consists of drink
servers stopping their drink service about 2 times an hour to stand on stages
and dance. The dancers only dance for 5 minutes at the most. Though somewhat
entertaining, everything stops dead when they dance, which can only cost the
Rio money in the long run. Also they are taking up valuable gaming space for
these stages. The new waitresses/waiters include men and women - the women are
more skimpily dressed than the old waitresses, but not as good looking, the
men are fully clothed.
In my opinion this is a stupid idea and won't bring in more people to the
Rio, and will be annoying to serious players who now will not get drinks while
dancers dance. It will only cost the Rio money in the long run.
If the Rio wants to bring in more players, they should try incentives such as
2X point days and bring in some "looser" machines including at least a
handful of decent video poker for quarter and $1 players such as 9/6 JB, 10/7 DB,
and full pay DW.
