At my last time the lobster was reduced to tiny tails - more like from
crawfish or something else, too small to be from a lobster - they were quite
tasty though, in butter sauce, and hot. They no longer have the halved
lobster they used to. The lines for the tails, such as they are, are long, and
the tails were in the wrong section (not under the big seafood section
signs). The sushi was pretty good, as was most of the rest of the food, but
the selection was not all that great. I prefer the huge selection in the
regular Carnival Buffet at the Rio, for a lower price. No real sushi or
lobster tails of any sort, but they have cold crab legs and a giant selection
of other stuff, including a very good desert area, Japanese soup area, good
Chinese selection, plus Italian, American, Mexican, etc.
If you are a sushi lover, you might prefer to go outside the casino (via
taxi) to nearby Makino's just off Flamingo Ave. at Decatur. They charge
about $28 for dinner buffet (discount for seniors), and a bit less for lunch.
They have a huge selection of sushi rolls, also regular sushi, and some
sashimi for dinner. Also lots of other selections for non-sushi lovers,
including shrimp, tempura, teriyaki, maybe crab legs (not sure), and a nice
desert selection.
The $80 or so Sunday Sterling Brunch buffet at Bally's no longer has
lobster either. They do have real lobster tails though, plus sushi, caviar
(sort of hidden next to the sushi, ask the woman for it - I think she has saki
too), lamb chops, filet, and all manor of other high quality ingredients.
Check the Las Vegas Advisor booklet for a discount coupon. This buffet is
probably not worth the price, but if you can get it comped, it is very
very good.
