Rincon vs Ak-Chin

Looking for something different for 7* trip around Christmas. Been to Tahoe several times, coming from east coast. Anyone been to both and have a preference or anything special going on at either casino? Saw a post about multi-point days at Rincon, does anyone know days in Dec? Thanks, RW

Rincon. Is far superior in every way (my opinion) but you should know that
both are in the middle of nowhere. Ak chin is a converted motel and few food
choices. Crowd is a little rough too but staff is wonderful. Rincon has
beautiful decor lots of food choices also friendly staff. If u go to rincon
ask for garden tower poolside each one in ground floor has a patio and some
suites have private jacuzzi on the patio

Was Ak Chin really a motel at one time? The rooms are very nice. It may look like a 2 story motel but it is built around a very nice pool and the rooms are very nice. They also just completed a new hotel but I haven’t seen the inside of the rooms yet. Their buffet isn’t too bad but, like you said, there aren’t many other choices on or off the property.

Just be warned that both of these casinos are rather remote and both are over a 30 minute drive in the best of circumstances from the airport that you will land at.

With that said both are nice casinos (Rincon the nicer of the two).

Chiming in belatedly, I'll add my vote for Rincon. Strong amenities make it well suited for a 7* trip. (I advise taking advantage of the spa services.). Plus, since Rincon is one of the pricier destinations from the East coast (in terms of travel cost), there's no better opportunity through which to sample it.

While it's a little late in the year, it's still noteworthy that they have a strong pool area. And, if you can talk your way into a suite, you'll find it will definitely be the cherry on the cake.

As noted by others, Ak-Chin is a far more modest property. Using a 7* trip is definitely overkill. Bev and I did an initial visit last weekend on a mailed offer that included some travel allowance and that suited us perfectly. We found Ak-Chin to be very lovely and accomodating, but amenities in general fall more into the genre of "locals casino" than "resort".
