Rincon Questions

Hi Gang:
Hedy and I got an enticing offer from Harrah's Rincon this week and we're
very seriously considering a trip there over Valentine's weekend.
I printed out the VP info from the vpfree2 database and the inventory
seems pretty good, but we were wondering about all the other peripheral things
that the property offers such as rooms, restaurants, promotions,
entertainment, VIP lounges etc. We've always gotten great information/advice from the
folks on these boards about the quality of these things at other
properties and were hopeful that we could get some help/insight again.
So, thanks in advance for any info that can be provided on Rincon.
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy (counting down the hours to our cruise on NCL's Epic on

I play at Rincon often since it only about 40 mins from my house. 9-6 JB, 8-5 Bonus and 9-6 DDB located in it own section next to the Sports Bar. From the parking lot the entrance is right of the front main entrance once inside go to your left and go about50ft up against the wall. I have not used the hotel but I have heard that it is nice. Their restaurants are VERY good I love the steak house. If you do make it let me know and I will come up. I hope you have better luck on the Epic than I did. Mike

Coach,

Bev and I visited Rincon the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, taking advantage of the 125K Signature Experience package on my account. We both give the property a big thumbs up!

There's an excellent inventory of good games at $.50/$1/$5 that provided very satisfactory play throughout our stay.

Rooms are well appointed. If you can score an upgrade to one of their suites, you're in for a particular treat. We stayed in a Coronado suite under my offer, which featured a large living room, nice bedroom, spacious bathroom with large shower and separate deluxe jacuzzi tub, and a spacious balcony accessible from the bedroom and bathroom.

We didn't sample the gourmet restaurants during our 2-night stay (we were en route to spending Thanksgiving week in Puerto Vallarta), but benefited from an exquisite poolside luncheon under my offer that suggests that Fiore Steakhouse should have the potential to offer top-flight fare. (The menu and decor themselves are fairly run-of-the-mill "nice" for a casino steakhouse experience.

The pool area is drop dead attractive. I imagine swim weather is a iffy prospect in February, but we lucked into a beautiful day on arrival in November (where a cabana was assigned for our lunch and day's use) and had a great time at the pool.

Our foremost impression of the property is that it's excellently managed throughout. (FWIW, the spa services provided as part of my Experience were performed with absolute acumen ... best either of us have enjoyed.) There's a real commitment to guest satisfaction from which any A.C. property could learn from ... truly unanticipated from a "po-dunk" casino.

Just be prepared ... it's a good hike from the San Diego airport: a good hour's drive.

Read up on the other casinos in the Rincon vicinity (especially Pala, which is pretty nice). You may decide to explore during your visit.

- Harry

I was at Rincon on Sunday and it was 85 and hot but two weeks before it was a high of only 57 so you never know in the foothills of San Diego.

Rincon is the closest Harrahs so frequent it fairly often. The rooms are nice. They have a lot of suites. The Laguna suites on the bottom floor of the garden tower are very nice each with a little outside jacuzzi
The Coronado and Catalina suites are both beautiful with large balconies you can sit out on.
The Steakhouse is excellent. The buffet was remodeled last year and it ok...not a huge buffet fan. The Asian restaurant was pretty good the time we had it. The BBQ restaurant in the back has been 3 or 4 different things since Rincon opened...haven't been to this new incarnation
I us the spa service pretty much every time we go....nice spa with good masseuse's
email me privetly if ther are any other questions I can answer.
Trish
It is an isolated property out in the middle of nowhere...although there are a few other casinos you could go to in the area.

Regards,

I haven't been to Rincon in a few years but used to visit frequently.
The hotel at Rincon was initially only a three story affair that ringed the pool and waterfall. There are some very nice rooms and suites on level 1 which have direct access to the pools and whirlpools via the sliding glass doors to your room. Very nice even in February if you like sunning, soaking and swimming. Security may be slightly compromised on level 1 but we never had a problem. A tower was later added which has some nice balcony suites but the balconies are covered and not much sun hits them. Some have tubs with a valley view. Be aware while the resort is in a very nice valley some of the homes and buildings in the area show signs of hard times. The spa is a nice experience in that it is less crowded than the ones I've been to in Vegas. You are fairly close to Temecula Valley wine tasting tours if that might interest you. Enjoy!

Rincon is lovely, but it's in the middle of nowhere. It's at least an hour's drive from the San Diego airport -- depending on the time of day. And many of the roads leading up to it are a little difficult to navigate. That said, once you get there, it's very nice, but not very distinctive -- think your standard Marriott or Hilton. There is a nice spa and a beautiful pool area, but it may be a bit chilly in February to be out at the pool. There is a nice steakhouse and a pleasant Diamond Lounge -- but you pay for drinks, and the food offerings are more like chips and salsa. Seven Stars cardholders get two free buffets each day -- and the buffet was recently totally revamped. Hope this helps.

The database says they still offer CB or guaranteed BBC at a rate of 450 points = $1. Is that accurate? Is is it paid Base or Base plus Bonus Reward credits?
