I remember that cult in Japan that killed people on subways etc., using

I found the RJ article surprising. The cops were downplaying the
incident. It could be just for show.

  The Japan deal was actually sarin (sp?) nerve gas, if memory serves. Very nasty stuff - and we still have barrels of it in storage - left over from the cold war. It has to be burned to effectively dispose of it. No hame chemist is likey to concoct that stuff, but I'm sure for the right price it is available from someone......
