Reverse Gaffes

Woudn't you call what the Nevada Gaming Control programmer, Ron ???
whatshisname, did a "reverse gaffe?" He programmed some VP machines
to hit a royal if he made a certain sequence of bets.

The blackjack machines that "double after the split" and pay
Blackjack when split aces catch paint would qualify as "reverse
gaffes" too, wouldnt they? Those two rules are not stated anywhere
on the payout screen. We always referred to it as a "glitch", but
my guess is this was done intentionally by some programmer.

Several years ago slot cheats were getting a 45 coint bet for one
coin on the Williams nine line video slots. Williams and the
casinos lost a ton on money. I don't think this was an accident
either. I have to believe a programmer did it.

I did a yahoo search on "slot cheating." The very first item was
about Tommy Glenn Carmichael of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is reputed to
be the world's greatest slot cheat. He invented all the tools of
the trade over the years, the kickstand, the monkey paw, the light
wand and the slider. He's retired now but still maintains they
can't build a slot machine he can't cheat.

If I knew how to post up the link to the article I would do it but
I'm computer illiterate so maybe a vpFREE'er could do it. It's a
very interesting article. Especially how he defeated VP machines
with a device called the "slider."

good luck

Is this the case you were referring to?

Yes, that's his mug shot in the black book. The article I was
referring to was published in USA TODAY 08-11-2003. I got it by
punching up "slot cheating" on a yahoo search. I just Googled him
and there was all kinds of iinteresting stuff. He was profiled on
the history channel and there was some kind of a movie or television
series about him.

Is this the case you were referring to?

Two more links:

This article doesn't mention that he invented a device that could put
credits on a slot machine. He had to have been the casinos worst
nightmare.
