I’m going to the opening of Resorts World Catskills, which opens on Thursday, Feb 8. I’m wondering if any of you might also be going. If so, maybe we could meet at a bar one night.

Was going to go with a buddy but he couldn’t make it. It’s about 110 miles from me. We were just going to go for the day. Figured it would be quite crowded despite the day and time of the year. Don’t expect any good VP with the large NY tax bite. Are you staying over ? Heard that room rates were expensive.

Major oops on my part regarding my stay at RW Catskills. Due to poor hearing, I'm staying at a nearby Super 8.
NYNY is the stock ticker symbol for Empire Resorts which owns the Monticello Raceway as well as partnering with Resorts World on the casino.
I arrived yesterday but didn't play because I left Vegas late Wednesday for Newark, had a 4-hour layover at Charlotte before arriving there to pick up my car to drive the rest of the way. My dinner was a bowl of sweet and sour chicken and rice at their Good Eats restaurant. It was not as good as the frozen dinner one by Tai Pei which you might find at your supermarket.
Here, now, is VP game info:
There are only 4 good games to play here, with the best being 9/7 Double Bonus at 99.11. The other good games are: 9/5 Jacks or better at 98.45, 9/6 DDB @ 98.98, 15/9/4/4 Deuces Wild @ 98.91, and 8/6 Bonus Poker Delux at 98.49. All the games are at the $1, $2, and $5 level depending on the machine. The locatons for these machines are near these locations: Double Top Bar & Grill, Bar 360, an ATM middle-right side, main entrance, left of Empire Lounge (the $2 & $5 also). All are also available as single line and 3/5/10 line.
Guess everything depends upon perspective…
According to your report nothing worthwhile for me for games that I regularly play.
BTW are you saying that 9/5 Jacks 9/7 DB and 9/6 DDB are available in quarters and 50 cents denoms in single and multi lines ??

In New York, Native American/Indian casinos have Class III gaming otherwise is Class II gaming.
Resorts World Catskills is Native American/Indian owned.

another good way to see if a casino has class III video poker is to check vpFree2. Even if it’s a bit out-of-date, it won’t list casinos if they are class II.
washington state is one state I know of that has only class II. New York has plenty of class III. I done goot at Niagara Falls, NY: Seneca Niagara last September (see trip report and jackpot photos posted here on vpFree). Am going back in April.

Resorts World Catskills is not Native American. It is owned by Genting which is also building a Resorts World on the strip where the Stardust used to exist.
NY voted to amend state constitution a few years ago. As a result 6-7 Las Vegas /AC type casinos are slated to be erected 4 are upstate and in a few years supposedly some will be downstate.

You apparently are more up to date with the casino situation in New York than I am.
But Resorts World Catskills is owned by Empire Resorts (a non Native American entity). Empire Resorts entered into a license agreement with Genting to use the Resorts World brand name.
